Mainstream media just does not speak to us. That is my theory, and I'm sticking to it.

This does not surprise me. I think we tend to sit around reading shit instead of getting ourselves out there in the market.

I think the gay community has traditional embraced online communities and news because in many locations local options are limited. While the bigger cities have many resources for gay and lesbian people, smaller or medium sized cities don't offer the same services or opportunities and going online is a convenient way to access news and networking with other gay people.

Sad? I think not. We gays have a higher percentage of blogs and networking. I am on facebook, but not just to meet gays. I am there for social as well as professional networking. I had joined gayfacebook, but got a few posts that to me were a bit too trashy, so got out.

This is sad. Are we too lazy? Or does mainstream media just not speak to us?

I'm glad they put the link to the actual site because the numbers in this article are different from those the Harris Interactive group actually published. Thanks for the link though 365gay. It is an interesting topic.

That's interesting, but I can see why. There are 20x more heterosexuals than there are homosexuals, so most of us enjoy meeting others like ourselves. It's not very hard to a hetero to meet another hetero. lol
