Those figures are misleading. The Mormon church asked their members to privately donate money and in many cases, urged heavily. As a consequnce, the figures look more like this :

At 40%, Mormon donations make up largest group of donors to Prop. 8

- Individual Donors, Mormon – 40.40% ($7,615,842.43)

- Individual Donors, Other* – 29.94% ($5,643,497.71)
( *Includes “probable” Mormons not yet confirmed.)

- Non-Mormon Organizations – 29.66% ($5,592,015.24)

The Mormons exercised their legal rights and stood for something they believed was right. From the sounds of it, you would have the rights of Mormons and everyone else that disagrees with you taken away. Gay marriage isn’t just about gays. It affects everyone. Once you cross that line you open up a whole new world that you’ll never come back from. Gay agenda will be forced by law. It is already happening. Religion will be destroyed by law.

Since when did Gay become a race? What about bisexuals? Will you allow them to marry a man AND a woman? Since when do we completely define ourselves solely by our sexual preference? Since when did marriage become a constitutional right? As the lines blur, everything as you know it will be “redefined”.

Dictionary.com defines bigot as “a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.” I don’t have to agree with your opinion to be tolerant of it. I believe it is immoral to be gay. I’m sure there are those who would love to burn me at the stake, but I’m not afraid to stand up for my beliefs. Those who respectfully disagree with you, you call “bigots” incorrectly. Now, what many of you are doing to the Mormon church and others, that is the true meaning of what a “bigot” is.

It amazes me how far society has come. What is moral or immoral anymore? Can you see that the lines have blurred and what is popular changes constantly? Good is called evil and evil is called good in our day. I pity those who have fallen into this. What has happened to Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible will also happen to America very soon. Please wake up.

This is obviously a pre-meditated religious ambush with the intent of a hostile take over of the California Constitution. The Supreme Court I hope, will have a field day with the judgement, and send all those that believe in the clap trap of religion, fully packing.

i meant to write in my last comment toward the end that i ask for forgiveness of those whom i offended, i do beleive the blood’ ‘christ shed was not shed in vain but in love,as well as others,even the millions in battle, which i feel’ christ loves them as well,but is it ever good enough!
the scripture’ said without the shedding of blood’ is no remission for sin, so for the sake of this scripture christ’ showed how much he’ loved
everyone when he was crucified…
i feel he’ was hoping that men would see him as a perfect’ sacrifice and to end anymore blood being shed…to let them’ see that their’ belief in the need of the shedding of blood led them to crucifying a man of love,an innocent man…
yet,we the people at times are innocently overlooking the greatest message which is been above our’ intelligence level,including my own…
for a christian,christ’ is the example,or leader,not paul,or peter!
i feel christ’s god is god,and that his’ religion if any in it be love…
so whenever there is a question of scripture,let’s remember the example,and the loving lesson ‘christ guided menkind alike through with the beleif in the shedding of blood…they knew,him to be sinless,and still he let them crucify him! to prove a point,that now was remission for sin,without no need for shedding of blood,or the ‘law’s judgement call,even without the knowledge of good&evil,men could trust himself if he let go of this illusion!
in closing, i’d like to say that the words of christ be more important then any other scripture,in that only he ‘gave the right t to a man, to say i’ am who i am,if we follow him then we will be healing the sick,the hungry,the ill…remember christ’ questioned the law thereby questioning old scripture,but he did it, in love…peace&blessings…
ps…when’i am who i am,then we are who we are,in the love of ‘christ we art the children of god,the essence of lite,with the breath of life…
be lite,by sticking to the lite of the scriptures!
christ’ scriptures. we know were of love&lite,the rest is etc…’s&the best explanation, of the thereafter ‘christ…which his’ disciples interpreted ;to the best of their’ foresight&intelligence given to them by ‘god…insomuch we need to ritely divide it today with ‘christ example of intelligence being its’ center!& with the love’ intellegence given us by god’ our creator…the love of ‘christ is in its’ own form of evolution,whereby it is taken generations for this love to grow in mens’ hearts,therefore it is also taken generations for this love to effect mens’ intelligence!,or perspective! just in this past generation did many men hear of pranic’ healing,through life’ energy,which is similar to the way christ’ healed! so will men’s interpretaion of scripture change as his’ intelligence level changes, the only thing, not needing changing,is christs’ words,for their’ his&loves’!
or anyone elses’ in,or out of love,perhaps we should hold them to the lite of love,and we will see a new’interpretation…
i do not feel the cross,or the bible,were meant to be taken and shuffled with the earth in a war’ game over,which one will win,or survive! life on earth,or scriptures,or the cross!

Please don’t be taken in by Mormon PR efforts.

To quote the latest LDS press release verbatim:

“Understanding the extent of donations from other organizations may help the media and the public better understand the context in which the Church’s donations were made.”

In other words, the LDS are now actively pushing the meme that they were bit players in the Prop 8 effort.

Sorry, but any way you slice this, the Mormons own at least 50% of the funding for the Yes on 8 campaign. No matter how hard they might try to spin it, nobody else even comes close.

i feel ‘christ gave a good example of one loving their’ neighbor as themself…christ’ also came up against the law’,and the law’ alone,not ‘christ specifically,taught discrimination against ‘gays…christ’ did not specifically say to hate anyone!
i feel ‘actions speak louder then words,and jesus’ fed the poor&hungry… there were politics in his’ day,and some decisions made were more according to the conservative’ path,others were’nt…
however jesus’ did not give money to politics,except in the way of taxes,where he stated ‘give unto ceaser that which is ceasers…so here we have people who call themselves’christians,or followers of christ,following a cross which was used as a weapon by the law they still follow to kill him’!
how would you like it if i took a weapon used against a friend of yours’ to kill them and had it framed,then engrave ‘in loving memory of, with your’ friends’ name!
or hung it on a necklace for you to wear!
well my point is that some ,’christians are still following the old law,which taught them to stone their’ children with stones,and sacrificing their’ children in other’ ways,it had them burning people alive,to create a living hell’ on earth…they follow this law,others,instead of taking their’ money and following ‘christ example of feeding the hungry,or poor!
‘christ said it is finished,but who is listening,or who really gets the message….
following these laws which nailed ‘christ to a cross, will only lead to more crosses planted…
yes,christ’ was nailed to the cross for breaking the law,and challenging the government of his’ day!
the books which contained these laws also contained the old laws on sodomy’! which were taken and reabbreviated into the text of the bible some still follow!
the first commandment is ‘love,none other,so who will we follow,i support ‘christ,i support universal life,for i love it,hereby i love its’ creator,thereby i love
everyone! love’ is a wonderful thing!
doves are wonderful’ birds!
andthe spirit descended upon ‘christ in the form of a dove’! so i choose to look above and beyond the cross!
for is’nt there been enough blood shed,if it be the blood which saves,thers’ been millions spilt since christ’ day! it is love likened to a dove,which looks to the spirit in matter and the lite within and above the cross,and beyond! love is one! henceforth when is one ever seen,or recorded the sex of a spirit! is not the spirit to govern in religion!
i ask for forgiveness to those who be forgiven,but i ask them to look in a mirror as well to ask themselves,if they be offended by what i have written!

The Knight of Columbus “charitable”? That would be like saying that someone who is giving you a hug while stabbing you in the back was “affectionate”. Sorry, but the “Knights of Columbus” are merely a tool of the catholic church that are used to do their bidding – no more. Whatever good they may do is more than offset by the pain and suffering their ignorance inflicts on others.

Jack McNulty: it is disingenuous to say the Knights of Columbus serves as a “charitable group.” There is nothing charitable about giving over a million dollars to deny us rights. They are a front for the bigots in the Church to funnel money into anti-gay activities.

The Knights of Columbus are not the political arm of the Roman Church. The group is a fraternal organization set up in distinction to the masonic orders which were forbidden to Catholics in the 1800’s. Today the KofC serves as a charitable group with focus on various needs like insurance and education. Sometimes they do respond to the call of the Hierarchy to address areas which they feel are outside the authority of the Church establishment. Most Catholics just pray, pay and obey. They don’t pay much attention to the goons who strut with the feathered hats and sword like they were part of a royal court. Sad if they in fact did fund opposition to Proposition 8. Maybe it’s time some members of the Knights of Columbus were outed publically.
