Ryan, it is not hypocrital for those of us who live in states even less hospitable than Nevada to advocate a boycott of Nevada if the veto is not overridden. One has to live where one lives for a lot of reasons, and some states like Alabama are never going to do the right thing. I have no choice about where I live right now. But I do have a choice about where I spend my money. And I will not spend my vacations in places that discriminate against me (even if I have to live in a place that does). I would also urge people not to plan vacations in Alabama or Mississippi or Florida or Oklahoma or Texas, etc.

Many of the large casinos in Las Vegas have commitment ceremonies available to gays. Have you not seen the PARIS ads in OUT magazine? Our governor is an incompetent, womanizing imbecile. He is, in essence, a good Mormon.

I also meant to say I put a typo in my first post:

"4.) The casinos are not putting HUGE amounts of pressure on overriding the veto from Gibbons."

I meant to say the casinows are NOW.

Thanks Marie for the kind words, Nevada is being demonized on this forums because of a governor the people in its own state despise. For being out West Nevada has quite a few gay protections and like I said, I feel the domestic partnership bill will pass.

I really want to know the states some of these guys live in, because if some of you are willing to boycott Nevada and you live in a state that is even less gay friendly then that is hypocritical at best.

Remember Nevada is only one (1) of a few states (7 or 8 I believe) that make it illegal to be fired for being gay. That is a HUGE deal if you ask me.

I also live in Las Vegas and I agree with Ryan. Gay or Straight, no one likes Gibbons, he is in a messy divorce (cheated on his wife and was sued for assaulting a stripper), severely cut funding for just about everything, and he has vetoed a ton of new bills recently.
I'd like to add the Nevada is one of the few states that gays/lesbians are able to get their partners listed on their health insurance in the private sector.

I think that all of you queens need to quit being so queeny. My partner and I live in Las Vegas (and one of the 18,000 married couples from CA), while this is a set back I don't believe it will be for long.

I think some of you are forgetting to look at some of the positives of Nevada:

1.) Nevada is one of a VERY FEW amount of states that make it ILLEGAL to fire you for being gay AND has had that law for 10 years now. This is hugely amazing.

2.) Nevada ALLOWS joint adoptions by gay couples and encourages it. A BIG DEAL if you ask me.

3.) You guys are also forgetting that Gibbons is almost hated by the people in this state. I don't even think his approval rating is above 20%, pathetic at best. So no, he does not represent the people.

4.) The casinos are not putting HUGE amounts of pressure on overriding the veto from Gibbons.

I am confident we will have a veto override in this state, without a doubt.

With comments like "Gibbons should be shot in the head" that I see on here, its getting us nowhere fast. I love it out West and I will continue to actually be a man and fight rather than storm off to Canada, Iowa or the New England states.

Buck up men, quit crying.

Aren't Nevada politicians crying that comments Obama made is hurting business in Las Vegas. Maybe we should really kick them where it hurts and take our money where we are appreciated. As for the gay residents of Nevada, remember your duty at re-election time. You know, when these very same assholes are shaking your hands and flashing their teeth in hopes of getting your votes. Respond by kicking them in the teeth and voting for someone else. If you're not good enough to be treated equally then they are not good enough to get your vote
