(Lincoln, Neb.) Nebraska’s rules for licensed psychologists could change because of concerns about potential conflicts between religious convictions and sexual orientation.
Jim Cunningham of the Nebraska Roman Catholic Conference says psychologists and other licensed therapists should be able to refuse to treat or refer clients because of the counselors’ religious or moral convictions.But psychologist James Cole told regulators that such a rule could open the door for discrimination as long as a therapist claimed a religious conflict. Cole represented the Nebraska Psychology Association at a recent hearing on the proposal.
I refuse to treat Roman Catholics because according to my moral convictions, they are a menace to society’s well-being, individual spirituality and the universal God. How about that?
Amazing. It just shows that what is really at work her is hatred of gay people. There are far more people who don’t believe in transubstantiation, papal supremacy or infant baptism. Yet you don’t see them asking for permission not to treat these kinds of vile heretics. The hypocrisy and hatred is stunning.

This is dangerous…what will prevent someone to say that he/she does not want to treat catholics citing moral or religious convictions?

Any profession that requires a legal state licence must adhere to that license and not one’s religious beliefs. This is just one more attempt to blur separation of church and state, and to forward the right wing religious agenda to establish a theocratic state, run by the Bible and not the Constituiton. They must be stopped at every intersection. They are dangerous. They are Mormon, Roman Catholic, and Evengelical, but none of them are true Christians.
Well, who wants to go to Nebraska anyway, where sheep outnumber people? Let those cross-eyed inbreeds govern themselves.

Pat, that’s just the issue…they don’t even have to refer you if they don’t agree with your “lifestyle” based on bigoted moral convictions.
“Do no harm”; isn’t that their motto in the medical field? This would do emmense harm country-wide.
I think this is good. Best to know that your therapist is a bigot before they try to help you PRAY away your gay. It would be nice to be referred to someone who actually CARES about the person, not who they are screwing.
Yeah, This is a time bomb waiting to go off if people can discriminate at will and claim religion to justify it!

Gotta Love it, thats fine. I’d rather go to an LGBT phsychologist or therapist or one that is gay friendly. They are gonna do all of our work for us… YEAH. Please expose the bigots, so we know which ones to avoid and which ones to honor with our MONEY, our time and our appreciation!
It will be exciting to see when someone of “Catholic” faith also denies others of different faiths and they get sued OR they just lose so much business and paitients that they are driving to the “food banks” that no longer exists because the catholics are so busy with being mean instead of feeding the hungry and poor. SHAME ON THEM!
