Missouri Hate Crime

KSDK reported that three gay men were attacked early Saturday morning when leaving The Complex Nightclub in St. Louis.
One of the men attacked, Jacob Piwowarczyk said, “I have a soft tissue bruise on my elbow. I have six stitches in my eye and I have a mild concussion.”Piwowarczyk recalled there were four attackers. “They came up out of the car and they start calling us faggots.”
He continued, “We kept telling them please leave us alone, we’re fine. From there, the one kid didn’t like what we told them and decided to punch me in the eye and I fell to the ground. And at that time my friend was laying on the ground and they started kicking him in the face.”
Gay rights advocates say existing state and new federal laws on hate crimes could mean harsh penalties for the attackers.
According to the Vital Voice, Missouri was one of the first states to include both sexual orientation and gender identity protections in its 1999 Hate Crimes Law.
Piwowarczyk said, “Health-wise we’re all fine. We’re just lucky to be alive. Could have turned out worse.”
KSDK also reported that the other two victims suffered a broken nose and fractured cheekbone.
The police department is still investigating.

Fine, report. UMMM… Did they catch the criminals? If so they ought to have a fine time in jail. Now in for assault with ’special circumstances.’ Years I hope.
What can I say that hasn’t been said a million times before?
Typical closet case breeders.
Closet case breeders that will end up in jail being Bubba’s b*****s.
Have fun in jail you big brave bashers, I hope a can of crisco comes with the orange jumpsuit.
Any attack as obvious as this one on these three Gay men, deserve what ever penalty possible under the Matthew Shepard / James Byrd Hate Crimes Act. It was very obvious at the start what their purpose was by their homophobic slurs, which they followed with the physical attacks. As Jacob Piwowarczyk stated they “we’re just lucky to be alive”.
While the cowardly attacks are deplorable and I hope these persons are caught and punished to the full extent of the (federal) law, I still cannot understand why LGBT people don’t FIGHT BACK! Many years ago a friend of mine was drunk and like an idiot approached a car that called him over. They punched him in the face and before the car could get more than ten feet several of us who saw the incident picked up rocks from the decorative sidewalk display and the car didn’t have a window left in it after we were done. They didn’t come back. Fight Back!
No ONE messes with my city!!
Why is there no information here about whether the attackers are still on the loose or if they have been caught (and if they have, what their names are)?
Sometimes it feels safe being in an area where gay bars are located. That can be deceptive because that’s also where gay bashers are likely to look for victims. I bought pepper spray online a while back but gave it away. Think I’ll get another one of those pocket size sprays and hope it doesn’t come in handy and a whistle on my key ring.
It’s unfair at all, gays are not crimes why they attacked them. Paedophil priests are dangerous crimes.
syn:
I am from St. Louis. They are basically doing nothing about it. I know the guys that were beat up and go to the complex often myself. I was not there saturday night but the St. Louis police say it is an ongoing investigation. They have not arrested anyone and probably won’t. It is very sad indeed. But we literally are not protected by anything here. I hope they catch them but sadly I am not holding my breath.
Hmm.
