The “gays can’t get married because they can’t reproduce” argument is dead on arrival. Once you start DENYING str8 people marriage licenses who choose not to have children or who cannot biologically have children (either parent) – THEN tell me about it. Marriage is not based upon procreation (though that has historically been a component of many marriages). It is based upon the love and commitment of the two people being married – whether they raise children (by any means) or not. So, for that poster from TX – you really don’t know what the hell you are talking about beyond blabbering some soundbites from the covervative chritians.

You want to yell, yell at perez hilton, (real name mario lavanderia) for bashing someone who didn’t do him any wrong. If we don’t want special treatment, then you have to let Miss California have the right to speak her opinion. If you want to debate the issue, then stop the attacks, otherwise all you do is promote their cause.

Brazil,, you are comparing Miss California to hitler. All this young woman did was answer a question truthfully, SHE DOES HAVE THAT RIGHT! Just because i’m gay doesn’t mean i shouldn’t defend someone who was asked a question and answered it honestly. Defending what’s right is more important than claimiing “i’m married”, Ms Prejean was asked a queston, answered it without hesitating as to what andwer would make her look good, too bad our politicians don’t have that habit. Mario Lavanderia is nothing more than a two bit bully who only attacks women, i dare him to try to attack me. We all know he does’t have the balls, probably doesn’t have any to begin with.

I find it incredible in this day and age that this debate still rages on… I do find it even more amazing that some gay people even attempt to defend this woman.. ‘She has a right to speak her mind, to voice her opinions’ they say… Well, so did Hitler!

It is the damage these ‘opinions’ actually do that counts. Correct me if I’m wrong, but when did we ever ask to be made a ‘special case’? or ask to be treated in any way differently to everyone else? We simply ask to be treated the SAME as everyone else. Anything less is inequality… There is no excuse for that. This ‘poor girl’ is an adult who should know better…

I as a gay man find this whole thing disgusting. Why has the gay community not got a clue on this issue. I have a partner and we have been together for 26 years. We are NOT married, I wish that we could have a civil union though. That would give us the ownership rights of our hetrosexual friends. I think the gay community has made a dire mistake in stakeing the entire issue on one word. Folks we have been at this awhile and we know it takes baby steps. Lets get civil unions legal first and then work on the terminolgy.

A face on bigoty. Ms Prejean’s???? Well, those opposing gay marriages have a face to put their fight to also, and it’s perez hilton’s. What he did after the pagent was nothing short of being disgusting. I’ll be honest,being gay woudn’t matter, if that was my daughter, he would have been six feet under. hilton’s nothing but a bully, picking on girls, must be why HE’S GAY. While i will like the chance to be married someday,, if the gay community keeps hilton as their mouthpiece, i’d just as soon defend and side with Ms Prejean. She didn’t ask for this fight, but she’s not ducking it. Make the issue the fight, not a 23 year old girl who only crime is answering a question honestly.

The NOM stated “She is attacked viciously for having the courage to speak up for her truth and her values,” the statement said. “Her truth and values” don’t reflect what is happening in society TODAY, not when she was a little girl in her own words. By forbidding same-sex marriage, which is a CIVIL function, not religious, she has injected her religion into a fight for civil rights.
Poor girl’s cue cards got mixed up and has to speak for herself. How hard that must have been on her? To tell everyone, what she was told to believe must be embarrassing.

Robi, you are wrong. This young woman is an adult and has chose her road to travel. This is not the 70′s where Anita Bryant was able to gain so much support. The tide and wind is against this young woman’s way of thinking. The movement can now put a face on bigotry. For right or wrong, this lady will likely be remembered as a footnote in helping bring further rights to gay men and women throughout the country.
