(Washington) Conservative Christian groups opposed to LGBT civil rights are embracing Miss California, hiring her for an anti-gay marriage ad and offering her a scholarship to the university founded by the late televangelist Jerry Falwell.
Carrie Prejean, responding to a question about same-sex marriage during the Miss USA pageant, said gay couples should not be allowed to marry and that homosexuality was a matter of choice.The remarks caused outrage by LGBT rights supporters, but endeared her to Christian conservatives.
Thursday, the National Organization for Marriage announced it hired Prejean to star in a $1.5 million ad campaign to combat same-sex marriage.
The organization already is running ads on cable channels in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire. Gay rights groups say are “spewing lies” about same-sex marriage.
In a statement announcing the Prejean ads, NOM said the commercial will call “gay marriage advocates to account for their unwillingness to debate the real issue: gay marriage has consequences.”
The group also claimed Prejean is a victim of gay activists.
“She is attacked viciously for having the courage to speak up for her truth and her values,” the statement said. “But Carrie’s courage inspired a whole nation and a whole generation of young people because she chose to risk the Miss USA crown rather than be silent about her deepest moral values.”
On Wednesday, Prejean was offered a full scholarship at Liberty University, the Lynchburg, Virginia school founded by evangelist Jerry Falwell.
School Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. made the offer Wednesday while Prejean was visiting the conservative Christian school that does not admit openly gay students and expels students who come out.
She currently is a junior at San Diego Christian College, and has not said if she would transfer to Liberty for her senior year.
Earlier this week, the Miss California pageant expressed concern over her behavior.
“We are deeply saddened Carrie Prejean has forgotten her platform of the Special Olympics, her commitment to all Californians, and solidified her legacy as one that goes beyond the rights to voice her beliefs and instead reveals her opportunistic agenda,” the group said in a statement.
Giving air time to ding dongs & wack-O’s only increases their power.
I propose a laughing-stock campaign. Whenever Ms Prelean appears in public-blast her with giggles, guffaws, snickers, & hoots. Raise your phones, bring laugh tracks, or do it yourself. Laugh her off her stage!

Prejean is a beauty queen who can’t form coherent sentences, has lied repeatedly to the public, and is a darling of the evangelical right. She reminds me of Sarah Palin – and will probably suffer the same fate!
She wasn’t satisfied with what her god gave her so she had her tits augmented. Isn’t there something in the fantasy book that says titty augmentation is a sin? Maybe she should consider having her brain (there is one, isn’t there?) augmented.

and i am proud of this women for speaking what she believes in and i absolutely hate prez hilton. what he did after the show is wrong, and she was true to what she believed which is great but dumb answer because of who actually runs the pageants.

The college education will come in handy. Maybe she’ll learn how to speak in sentences. In the meantime, let’s all adopt her language of “same marriage” and “opposite marriage”.
I don’t think she risked the crown to speak the truth. She started rambling and finally revealed what she thought. You can tell she was TRYING to be intelligent in her answer; it just wasn’t in her.
What she IS risking, apparently, is the California crown. I wonder if the California state pageant officials will have the stones to take away the crown now that she’s off using the title to promote her own political agenda. I sure hope so.
This whole thing just shows how desperate the anti-gay evangelical forces are. They elevate an air-headed boob jobbed beauty queen to be their spokesperson.
Mark my words. She’s gonna get knocked up, get caught snorting coke, or maybe those old lezzie photos will emerge. They’ll drop her so fast it’ll make your head spin, then she’ll get another 15 minutes whining about how she was used….

I love it. A 21-year old telling me that my 29-year relationship is a fraud and homosexuality is a choice. I wonder what other words of wisdom she may have to offer. I went to gay marches before she was born.

I despise just about everything WND puts out, but this article is worth reading to get a glimpse of how some Christian Conservatives feel about Miss California. And I can’t really say that I disagree with it:
