When you kick the bigots in the nuts, then their hearts and minds will follow. and that applies to businesses.

In this case, McD’s did the right thing. Was it prophetic that when I found myself at the metro going to have to wait for an hour for my son, I went looking for a fast food shop last night. And was disappointed I couldn’t find a Micky-D’s

Actually, from a sociologists perspective at least, “gender” refers to being either masculine or feminine, or somewhere on the continuum. Being male or female is what we call your biological “sex”. While your chromosomes can determine your sex, they do not determine your gender, which is often taught through socialization by parents, institutions, and peers from birth. If this woman felt she was feminine and wished her biological sex to match her gender, it is her choice and not something anyone who has not experienced the feelings can judge. I feel that many people use the terms “sex” and “gender” interchangeably, but they are two separate terms and should be understood before making statements such as those.

Harry Hay,

It is bigoted and hateful to refer to trans people as the wrong gender. To refer to a woman such as Zikerria Bellamy as a man is bigoted and hateful. The only ethical and correct option is to refer to her as a woman, as she is. As any woman, trans or cis, is.
