McCain Ad Blames Obama For Rising Gas Prices

(Washington) Republican presidential candidate John McCain is launching a new television ad that blames Democratic rival Barack Obama for rising gasoline prices.

The ad, airing on national cable and in 11 battleground states, argues that the cost of fuel is rising because of opposition to oil drilling in the United States.

The announcer in the ad says, “Gas prices – $4, $5, no end in sight, because some in Washington are still saying no to drilling in America. No to independence from foreign oil. Who can you thank for rising prices at the pump?”

A photograph of Obama appears on the stage as a voiceover of a crowd chants: “Obama, Obama, Obama!”

    • Even if the Dems gave the nod to drill for oil, it would be several years before anything could be produced, refined and sold to consumers. This is nothing more than a cheap shot by the neocons and a desperate one at that. The simple fact is and one that everybody is missing is that the OPEC nations are not increasing productivity in the number of barrels. Bush tried to get them to do that, but they gave him the finger. Its their oil not ours, they can do what they want. We in the west are as much to blame for not seeking alternate fuel resources. We whine about prices but we’re still paying a lot less than the rest of the world because its subsidized by the government. In Europe for example where the average gallon will cost you anything from $7 and up or more, half of the cost is taxes which contribute towards infrastructure and other “commons” that their people enjoy unlike our own. In a way, I’m glad gas prices are higher, it will teach us a lesson.

    • Oh McInsane throws mud and Comrade Obama’s fascist brown shirts throw mud right back. If we are truly honest with ourselves the ones to blame for this problem is us the American People. We as a nation had not 1, but 2 OPEC embargoes. We knew over 30 years ago that this would happen. Like everything we as a nation procrastinated and procrastinated and we continue to procrastinate. We as a nation knew in the 70’s we had to drive less buy more fuel efficient vehicles et. al. But did we? Of course not!

We blame the monstrous greedy oil companies. I hate to jolt you awake but those monstrous greedy oil companies are only a reflection of us as a nation. We the people are greedy monsters. We want to blame the government; hey stupid we are the government.

We have a stupid government because we are stupid as a group of people. If the definition of crazy is trying the same thing and expecting different results then we as a people are CRAZY. We need to break free from the duopoly of the parties in American politics and vote for people in the smaller parties rather it is liberty loving Libertarian environmentally socialist Greens or the Natural Law party et. al.

Nancy Pelosi is great example… she is nothing more then Bush’s lap dog she snarls and growls but that is it. Poor Rep Kucinich is trying to do his best to impeach the traitor bush but is Nancy helping? No she is actually butting up obstacles for justice for American people. We the people should be responsible for our government. If We the People do not take responsibility for our government and educate ourselves to the workings and proceedings of our government then we deserve the government we get.

    • Wow. That’s ridiculous. Sadly, some people might believe that.

    • The Republicans has six years when they controlled both houses of Congress and the White House. They could have opened drilling wherever they wanted. Why didn’t they?

Suddenly, with gas prices over $4.00 per gallon it’s Obama’s fault?

    • The more bs McCain pulls – the better for Obama.

    • And so it continues….flat out LIES from McCain just to get elected. Barack is completely right standing by his decision to refuse to drill off shore!
