If we as LGBT folk want change, we need to create the critical mass of pressure on political representatives to make it happen. Begin by writing the President and legislators and politely, but firmly demand the result you want. This is what the religious right is doing.

Y.C.D.B.S.O.Y.A.: You Can’t Do Business Sitting On Your Ass. If you want change, you must fight to make it happen. Begin with a letter demanding passage of legislation ending DADT, the Mathew Shepard Act and Health Care Reform. If those three things are done by November next year, the first half of Obama’s first term will be very productive indeed.

Sporty_g: Exactly how is Obama going to “END DADT and REVERSE DOMA and SIGN INTO LAW The Matthew Shepard Act and ENDA, an oh yeah, FIX HEALTH CARE” when Congress has any of these bills yet?

This isn’t a dictatorship where Obama can snap his fingers and change the laws. Congress has to act, or his hands are tied.

In general, I agree with many of the bloggers. I am a bit disappointed that a few issues (like DADT, DOMA, etc) have been kicked asisde for the time being, but I am not yet ready to abandon all hope of President Obama making good on his campaign promises. I understand that a few other items of importance popped up on the scene, but the angry mobs will only wait so long before the lynchings begin! END THE WAR, FIX THE ECONOMY, END DADT and REVERSE DOMA and SIGN INTO LAW The Matthew Shepard Act and ENDA, an oh yeah, FIX HEALTH CARE!
