While both the UCC (former Congregationalists) and PCUSA (mainline Presbyterian) have liberalized somewhat (the UCC more than the Presbyterians), there are still rock-ribbed homophobes lurking about.

Why would one WANT to minister in a homophobic parish or denomination?

Yes, yes, I’ve heard the “change from the inside” argument … from Roman Catholics, from Mormons, from Baptists,etc. … most of them are going to spend their lives very unhappily on the outside looking in.

It’s time for gay people to either GET OVER religion or stage a takeover of the levers of church government and expel the HOMOPHOBES … and / or inclusify MCC so those of us who don’t come from a US Deep South Evangelical / Holy Roller background will feel comfortable.

I’m ABOUT to lose patience with the Arch-Weasel of Canterbury in my own church, and his continued tolerance of “archbishop” Akinola’s call for GLBTQAI genocide, despite the US Episcopal Church’s courageous stand.

I still believe in the teachings of Jesus … the “Church,” not so much …
