Look out Louisiana. I think God will punish you with yet another Katrina. Unless you mend your ways of using God/ Jesus to deny the humanity of our gay people.

Jessi,

When an individual is adopted, his/her original birth certificate is sealed, and a new one bearing the names of the adoptive parent(s) is issued. This happens whether the individual is an infant, an older child, or is being adopted as an adult. The registrar of the state which issued the original birth certificate has to seal the original, and issue the new birth certificate upon receiving notice of the family court's adoption decree.

bobby jindal is another closet case! you can google the senator david vitter and see his story as well.

just because you live in another state does not mean you can not write governors, senators, legislators, etc. in other states.

i agree with the person that said the issue is with NY state insurance requirements. if the child's parent (biological) is Mary Smith and John Doe then thats it, if John Doe or Mary Smith are LGBT and adopt the child together, then they get the "adoption" paperwork changing the kids name or parent's status, but the original (official) document issued at the time of birth should be left alone.

i don't think we need biology lessons to know that it takes a female egg and male sperm to make a child. would look silly to have 2 males or 2 females on a BIRTH DOCUMENT, that should be taken care of in other documents.

nonetheless, LA (not La, abreviate it properly people) is not a very gay friendly state. it is RULED by Right Wing Republicans and Religion!

It's a given that anything from Jindal is going to be bigoted. However I think it's selfish for adoptive parents to try to erase all records of the birth parents. It's idiotic if we do it. It's idiotic if straight people do it.

"If we let the “Hate States” of the Deep South secede, can we make them promise to STAY gone THIS time???"

Reminds me of Shermans march to the sea during the civil war. He fucked up. Instead of burning atlanta, he should have burned all the white southern churches that supported slavery.

And taken all their pastors into custody for trial as war criminals.

I can't imagine what argument the state will come up with as to why they JUST CAN'T put these two individuals names on the birth certificate?

I would love to hear the absurdities as to what huge problems this could cause for the state and its policies?

As much as our infamous "Red Neck Red-Dot" Gu....vner is beholden to the religious right interest of the state, it still amazes me that he has made a public statement of support to such a patently idiotic and unconstitutional bill.

This is SO absurd that the first judge ruled on it WITHOUT A TRIAL!...The state should be ashamed. This is ALL about grandstanding for the average LA voter. To that average LA voter, right and wrong, fair and unfair, legal and not legal makes NO DIFFERENCE!...

What the average LA voter will eat up like pie is the obvious "stick it to them queers" sentiment behind it...

My beloved South needs to stop puting Haterade in the water supply!

Doesn't LA have one of the highest rates of unwed teen pregnancy, and murder, in the US?

And THIS is what they devote their time to quibbling about?

Wow.
