Great news! Hopefully this stinking piece of legislation will rot and not be brought up again in the next session.

this bill should have been dead. let all who wants to adopt thats single and feel that they are up to the job of raising a child and giving it love and the support do that! because im all for that, for every man, or woman, weather straight, or gay, or lesbian, or trangender. may not find true love, they may just want to know how it feels to raise a child. and show that child that they have someone there who cares, about them and their well being!! it is only human nature to want to raise, or mother, or father a child.

It would not be lawful even it was passed.

First of all cohabitating is not a word, the proper usage would be "cohabiting." But what do you expect from an close minded world?

Secondly didn't we go through this with sodomy? the Supremes basically said that the government is not in the business of the bedroom. How is the government going to know who is "cohabitating with a sexual partner outside of marriage" ? Did I miss something? All you would have to do is say, "no we aren't having sex." If you want to try and prove it, we can take it back to the Supreme Court.

The only lawful way you could write into law that we homos can't adopt, is by allowing adoption "only to legally married persons." Which I believe is what Arkansas did.
