Jury selection begins in HIV-related homicides

(Hamilton, Ontario) Jury selection has begun in the trial of an HIV-positive man charged with murder in the deaths of two sex partners.

Johnson Aziga, 52, is charged in the deaths of two women who died of AIDS-related complications after allegedly having unprotected sex with him.

He also faces 13 counts of aggravated sexual assault for allegedly failing to tell his sexual partners of his HIV status.

Aziga is believed to be the first person in Canada to be charged with murder in an HIV-infection case.

The trial has been delayed many times, due largely to adjournments sought by the defense and Aziga’s firing of three legal teams.

August 30th marked his fifth year in custody awaiting trial.

    • They should have asked him a blood test and wait for the result before any sex contact with this guy.

    • Had his partners asked about his status? They also took a risk by having unprotected sex. I am not saying that he has no responsibility but he is maybe not 100% accountable for this.

    • They should charge him with it. There is this neat little thing called a DNA test they do on the virus in their systems. If it matches a certain criteria, then he can be charged.

    • How did they figure it was him?

This is the reason to NEVER have unprotected sex with anyone because you never know.

Sure he might be tried and found guilty but those women are dead.
