The Obama should put his power where his mouth is. He can start with (and this is only a start):

They need to dismantle and get rid of DADT (Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell) and the DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act).

They need to pass and sign into law, in their original entirety, the EDNA (Employment Non-Discrimination Act),The Domestic Partner Benefits and Obligations Act, The Matthew Sheperd Act, and UAFA (Uniting American Families Act).

"Everyone is so angry at the HRC." Good, form your own GLBT-wide nationwide organization and it won't be long until people start saying "we are so angry at so and so and her or his organization, he or she doesn't represent us and blah, blah, blah!" Happens every time.

As for Obama, I am glad I am not president of this big country and its many concerns economic, foreign and domestic. Your life is in one big public fishbowl, you please noone, you can't just slip over to the CVS to buy a card to mail to a friend without having to bring your security detail with you and what you did becoming front page news. You can't even sneeze, let alone fart, without it being heard around the world.

But if you're unhappy with Obama and I am not too pleased with him either, send him a card to let him know that he is failing you on the gay and other issues that are most important to you.

The White House knows and can't help but know of the rising gay anger and disappoointment with Obama and they are still trying to placate us with little meaningless niceties and little crumbs.

Obama, grow a set of balls and be a man. A real man or a real woman says "screw politics, political advantage and political career, I am going to do what is right."

I am so angry at the HRC for giving this guy too many excuses and a virtual pass. Today they will all go to the White House, where they will politely get another brush off and walk outside to the press and say, "this is a good fist step." Please, I am so over this guy and the HRC.

My wallet is firmly closed to the Democratic Party and will remain that way until I have seen something more from Obama than bons mots.

This is a farce! How will we EVER get Obama and the Democratic Party to take us seriously by GIVING them money when they disrespect us? If we have given them ZERO DOLLARS, then we would be taken seriously. Instead, the same old shit will continue.

Gotta say, I agree with Baldwin: I'm glad there are people protesting non-violently, but I INSIST that there CONTINUE TO BE people on the inside who are on our side - and to call them Uncle Toms stupidly rude.

Maybe I'm just an old crank at 41, but does anyone remember RONALD REAGAN's administration? Could any of you imagine DAN QUALYE talking to gays?

Who the hell told you anything changes quickly in the US? We are one of the most socially conservative countries in the westernized world. We NEVER do anything QUICKLY - especially if it's the right thing. Why did Vietnam last 9 years? Why did the civil rights struggle take generations? WHAT COUNTRY DO YOU THINK YOU'RE LIVING IN?!? An enlightened and efficient and fair nation? Are you kidding?

The last time the US got close to any form of radical change was in the Kent State days - 40 years ago. I read all these comments and I wonder if you all think you live in the Netherlands or something. GET A GRIP. AND DON'T CALL OTHER TYPES OF WARRIOR "UNCLE TOM". If you had any hope of immediate gratification on gay issues, you need to learn a lot more about the US' strengths and weaknesses. Read a history book or live a few more decades.

I read these comments and wonder if the "gay community" will figure out that it's acting like today's Republicans. If you're denouncing A GAY CONGRESSPERSON (FYI - there "were none" when I was in highschool in the 80s) for attending a meeting where our issues are being addressed by the administration, you've got a screw loose. Or you're in your 20s or 30s.

I'm going to be patient. Obviously, Obama lets the Congress do the dirty work first - and then pipes up when things seem to go awry. That's been his style.

As if legal inequality against gays will go away within 4 years. Get real. Instead of insulting people you know to be generally sympathetic, read a few books about our beloved country and how fast it changes.

Yeesh. Guess this means I am old. You youts is making me crazy with your impatience and your snarkiness. But I love you all anyway. But please refrain from telling us who among us are "traitors". You have no idea how new it is to have potential allies. Save your rage for Rush.

In honor of all those fine young men and women who died during the 7 years that Ronald Reagan NEVER EVEN mentioned the disease called AIDS... let's please stop fighting each other.

Rant over.

The real problem is that the opposition to our equality is louder than us! They're the ones on national television, they're the ones on the radio stations, and they're the ones in the legislature preaching that we're on the wrong side of evolution... I don't think that the LGBT community should have to sit at the back of the bus anymore! It's not right, but the only way to make any kind of difference is to organize and start making some noise! Bombard your senators with emails demanding action on behalf of the LGBT community! Call into these big tv networks that spew hatred against our community and let them know that they're wrong! Take some sort of action... no matter how small it is. Start a blog and invite your friends and family to read it and become educated on our frustrations; our community has to start at the grassroots platform and move forward in order for the nation to take us seriously. No one sees our inequality as a problem... NO ONE! Do something small, and then build from there. Don't wait for someone else to do it for us, don't wait for a leader to emerge from our masses... do it yourself, and others will follow!

I am furious... Having just been laid off from my job I was filling out the paperwork for COBRA to keep my health insurance. As part of the stimulus the Obama administration passed legislation to cover 65% of the cost of COBRA. Sounds good right? Well... unless you are covering your Domestic Partner... the Federal Government is only covering the 65% for the laid off employee, not their partners. You can still cover them under COBRA, but at full price.. If my partner and I were married it would be a non issue... Just another example of how we are being screwed.
