I don’t think this is a moment of sadness. I think this is a moment of joy.

We should celebrate all he did not just for the American LGBT community but for all Americans who feel ignored by the large American political system.

I have never met Senator Kennedy but I think he passed on knowing that he died having made difference.

That to me is a measure of a human being, making a difference in the life of others.

I watched an HBO special about Ted Kennedy not too long ago, and I was blown away. Being new to the political news world, I found it so hard to believe that some well to do heterosexual white man gave up crap about some one like me, especially since the 60′s.

People like him reminded me that hate and ignorance go both ways, even on my part. We lossed one of the few true patriots of our day, for his sake, we need to keep fighting.

As a person living with HIV, I cried when I heard the news last night. If it wasn’t for Senator Kennedy, I probably wouldn’t be alive today. And if I was, I would probably be living in exile on some faraway island, a la “District 9″.

I remember when Senator Kennedy tied Mitt Romney in knots when the latter appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee testifying in favor of a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage. We will miss him.

Thank you Senator Kennedy for defending equality and civil rights for LGBT people. Thank you for defending the less advantaged in society at all times. Thanks for standing up to homophobic bullies in politics and the church even when it was hard to do so. Thank you Senator Kennedy and God bless you.
