The governor is held to a certain set of standards. With the power to appoint people to political positions, he must meet ethical standards to continue on in his position. He has failed, therefore he no longer has the right or the legal standing to appoint anyone to that position. This is not a matter of race or whether Burris would be competent in his position. The fact of the matter is, that Blagojevich’s service has been legally called in to question, and until he is declared fit to continue on his position, he cannot continue to make political decisions. There is a legal system to prevent a tyrant from becoming all powerful for a reason and it is time that it was put in to play! Burris, by his own actions, has told us he does not care about our legal system. He knows the governor is not fit to continue on, but still pursued his appointment. This should be all the evidence they need to deny him the posting!

Obama would appear more honest if he had said that the law does not preclude a Burris seating and, we are a Nation of Laws, but the circumstances are not healthy for Illonois. Yet, at the end of the day, it will be up to the people of Illonios to set the matter straight in 2010. Until then, then the law dictates Burris be seated and the Nation needs all of its Senators to move the Country forward.

Bottom line….Obama is looking more like an empty suit and less like an inspiration as the days click by.

Frankly:

Obama was elected to the seat. The law says the governor has to pick the replacement not that another election has to be held.

I know the guy is guilty but what if we start to strip the rights of those that are merely accused of a crime? That isn’t what this country is all about, it’s about innocent until proven guilty. Your rights can not be taken away until you are found guilty. Granted they may retain you so you don’t run…

Uh. No.

The Powell dealt with the election of Powell to the Congress. This election was free and open. The Court said that the will of the people and the sacrosanct institution of a free election can not be usurped by the Congress for anything other than constitutional issues such as age, residency and the like until there is just cause.

In the instant case, Blago hand picked Burriss. No election. No free institution. A back room pick. Furthermore, the person picking is under suspicion for trying to sell the seat. Which creates an air of non independence and a risk to the valid institutions of our nation.

THe Dems are so chicken right now. Look at how they handled Lieberman. Look how they did nothing on the Irag qar for two years in power. Not even a vote.

The truth is, they are acting really shady lately. Which should worry our community immensely.

Until Blagojevich is convicted he is an innocent man. We all know he is guilty as sin but until found so he is the legal Governor of the state and has the legal authority as such.

I’m ashamed to be a Democrat at this point as we publicly tried the governor and found him guilty (yes I know he is) BUT the courts must fine him so. How dare we Democrats circumvent the law. Heck were not Geo. Bush; are we?
