The nominee will likely be a woman, probably center left but not too liberal as Obama seems not to want a confrontational hearing. Also it’s certainly someone who favors a woman’s reproductive rights as he is pro-choice.

Unfortunately the nominee will not affect the ideological balance of the court since all the liberals are old and nearing retirement while the conservatives are relatively young.

He asked an anti-gay nut to offer the prayer at his inauguration to appeal to the right…

I have much less confidence in his judgement now.

I fear he may look for a middle of the roader who could end up leaning to the right…

He’s just too accommodating in trying to ‘bring everyone to the table.’

The most important criterion for a new Supreme Court Justice is a commitment to equal protection under the law. If someone really believes in this principle, he or she will do the right thing in regards to marriage equality, DADT, and other glbtq issues.
