Same sex marriage is not legal in Hawaii to begin with. So in other words they are same as all others who are not married but live together. Are they any special than that? equality? unless Hawaii approve same sex marriage then they will have the same benefits as married people.
either you extend the benefit to all neither married or unmarried, single or who ever pays tax or you end up getting rid of the benefits to be fare to all. So which one will government choose?

My husband and I were married 8 days before
PROPOSITION 8 was passed in CA!! I was so upset we had a beautiful Hawaiian Wedding and a licences that means alot i am from Tennessee and this is so cool that all we as gays want is to treated as equals and until that day comes Hawaii or Ca or TENNESSEE to all the states we will continue to fight for our right as a American!

Gay marriage protects marriage, by having another group involved in marriage. And the gays are setting an example where marriage is legal, with absolutely minimal divorces, while the str8′s are divorcing at a 50% rate.

The people who oppose gay marriage so strongly are examples of total total brainwashing.

Well, I have another one that will piss them off even more. The Christians on the extreme right are exactly the same bunch of people who gave us slavery and segregation, America’s greatest crime, justified by their forebears as per the bible.

Well, demographers says that by about 2040, this nation will be majority non-white.

Historical note: Hawaii was the FIRST state to bring this issue to the nation. It actually succeeded until the Hawaii Supreme Court gave the State the time to pass a constitutional amendment. That amendment merely gives the legislature the right to determine who can marry… At some point, the Legislature can choose to allow same-sex couples marry. *Likewise, they theoretically could choose to say ONLY same sex couples can marry… Odd. But, this equality fight started here. No thanks to non-Hawaii religious organizations, it was temporarily stalled. Not forever, though. Imua, Hawaii, Imua!

This story is misleading. No State can provide same-sex couples with ALL the rights married couples have. Even married gay married couples in States with gay marriage don’t get all the same rights as hetro married couples. They don’t get any Federal rights. They can’t fill out a joint income tax form or get their partner’s Social Security benefits and hundreds of other Federal rights.

well at least hawaii acknowledges their GLBT community we should have same rights as hetersexual couples have. We all pay taxes , we should have separate for paying taxes too if they going to deny our rights lol
