(Denver) Disgraced pastor Ted Haggard says he wanted his wife to divorce him after a sex scandal involving another man, but she refused.
Haggard made the comments in a two-part episode of the syndicated television show “Divorce Court” to be broadcast April 1-2. The show released a partial transcript Tuesday.Haggard resigned as pastor of New Life Church in Colorado Springs and as president of the National Association of Evangelicals after a male prostitute from Denver alleged a cash-for-sex relationship with him in November 2006.
Haggard confessed to “sexual immorality.”
Both Haggard and his wife Gayle appear on “Divorce Court,” but her comments about the possibility of a divorce weren’t released.
Ted Haggard said he wasn’t rejecting his wife but thought he had become so “toxic” that divorce was best for her and their children. He said she replied, “No way. I’m not going to do that.”
The Haggards were to be paid an undisclosed amount for the “Divorce Court” appearance. It is the latest in a series of public appearances that started in January. He also has appeared on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” and “Larry King Live.”

Can’t we see that this man is addicted to fame. Being pastor of the largest mega church in America has since passed, and now he is trying to hang on by slowly divulging his pathetic story to any media outlet that will listen. We need to not forget his hypocrisy, but we need to ignore all of his further attempts to profit off of his madness. This issue is distracting us from the many others our community needs to be working on. Let Mr. Haggard and his family fade into memory and let’s move on!
This whole thing is so crazy. It is O.K. to get divorced because someone is unfaithful. While I hope for his wife and kids that he is “cured”, I 99.99% expect some future “scandal” involving this guy.

I personally don’t see the point of 365gay reporting on Ted Haggard’s life. He isn’t newsworthy, and frankly, I consider him a rather pathetic man….
I don’t see the need to have his name mentioned even once on this site either. scum like that just isn’t worth the time.

Well, I guess I’m the odd man out on this one. I actually feel sorry for Ted Haggard (though I agree he’s addicted to fame). I hope one day he can actually face up to the fact of what he is and come out publicly. That would certainly put a nail in the coffin of reparative therapy.
But as a gay Mormon man who didn’t come out until I was 30 due to inner religious conflict.. I sort of understand his dilemma. He just has the grow the balls to accept himself and to publicly come out and announce that acceptance.
And then another gay brother will have been saved from a life in the closet.
Having said all that, I am tired of reading about him too…
Having worked for Harpo Studios, I know for a fact that neither Ted Haggard, nor his wife was paid for appearing on Oprah. It is not Ms. Winfrey’s policy to pay her guest. Afterall, if you wanted to get your word out, or a point across, what better venue than The Oprah Winfrey Show!! They should have paid her for the broadcast. So please don’t loop Ms. Winfrey with the “paid” appearance venues.

If (for some unforseen reason) I wanted to hear about this kind of slop, I would tune in FOX “News”.
As far as Ted Haggard’s wife refusing to divorce him? Well, that is HIS problem. Perhaps she is wanting to make him pay a little bit for dragging her (bible thumping @ss) through the “mud”.
