General Motors pulls gay themed commercials from the internet

General Motors has ordered all videos created for their Chevrolet “Gay Day at the Movies” promotion be removed from You Tube. The videos, which featured amateur footage of two “go go boys” washing a Camaro, were deemed inappropriate by GM.

“The video was not appropriate and not in good taste,” said GM spokesman Dave Barthmuss. The videos were seen as a bad representation for the company by GM executives said Barthmuss.

In the videos, two men washed a Chevy Camaro wearing nothing but yellow underwear with the word CAMARO on it. The boys were nicknamed the Bumble Bee Boys after a character from the recent Transformers movie, a yellow Camaro named Bumblebee.

The videos are no longer available online.

On June 28, Chevrolet held a “Gay Day at the Movies” promotional event and screening of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen for their gay customers.

    • Oh, so it is okay for four nearly naked girls to squirt each other with hoses and wash a car, but two go-go boys doing it is just wrong? Forget it, douchebags. That shit don’t fly with me. Just another reason to boycott GM.

    • Hmmm, were they wrong? I guess it depends on if the two guys were hot…

And why would you tell me about something that sounds so sexy that is no longer available for viewing? :(

    • Perfect…Now I don’t feel so bad about keeping my American built BMW and trading it in for a Candaian built GM

    • One more example of the power of Don Wildmon et.al. whose evengelical mission is to erase homosexuals from the public view. GM needs to be roundly berated for this blatant submission to the radical right wing christian movement.

    • Are they embarrassed about the commercial? The commercials were so well done that I decided to go to a show room an check out the Camaro. Good commercial, nothing to be ashamed of.

    • Throwing us crumbs then smashing our faces into the ground. I wonder if GM felt the same way back in 1970 when including African Americans in commercials was “not in good taste.”

    • I say the clip and anyone who thinks that it is “in bad taste” should consider pulling their head out of their ass because the fecal dust has obviously drained their brain. THE CHRISTIAN TALIBAN STRIKES AGAIN – surprise, surprise.

    • “no longer available online”. Ya, right. The internet knows all, remembers all. And yes, the commercial was in good taste.

    • Let us not forget that the NEW GM is owned mostly by the Obama Administration – oh, wait, I mean it’s owned by the tax payers with Mr. Obama deciding the good, the bad and the ugly on our behalf.

I’m so sick and tired of this. Grow up America!!!! The LGBT community is a part of YOU – not a separate entity to be derided, despised, terrified of and marginalized. We are NOT oddities, freaks of nature or choosers of sin as defined by you. We are HUMAN BEINGS, who feel, who bleed, who enjoy life, who experience the pain of life, who fall in love, get our hearts crushed and lifted by same and yes, we have SEX! Geez, if your parents didn’t ‘do it’ you all wouldn’t be here to throw stones at us!

    • I haven’t seen the commercial, but I’m an out and proud Chevy Blazer owner who would not hesitate to buy another GM car. Those clamoring for a boycott seem to have missed the basic fact that GM sponsored this promotion. As with Chrysler and Ford, the Big 3 have been very supportive of their LGBT employees and the community, including big donations to a new GLBT community center outside Detroit and participation in Pride events. So rather than cry “discrimination” as always, I’m inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt; I don’t think wet go-go boys prancing around in underwear is the image they should be portraying of either their cars or the gay community in general, and frankly, I can’t remember the last time I saw a corporate GM ad featuring wet almost-naked female strippers either.

    • It could be fun to call GM and ask why they wasted money on ads that ran and were pulled. Sixty percent of GM is government-owned, so I’d like them to explain why they not only threw out the ads, but essentially gave up on trying to sell to a segment of the market. If this is how New GM plans to operate, then they need to pull their Spanish ads from Telemundo and Univision, not to mention any ads targeted to blacks.
