The article above only cites the comments of one of mike’s uncles. His other aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters, and parents, did celebrate his life and loved him with no regard for sexual preference. Please realize you don’t have all the facts and for that matter neither do I. The loss of my cousin is a tragedy that we may never get over.

I thought these horrendous crimes only occurred in Jamaica.

This is not the Pennsylvania that I knew, back in 1969, when I first fell in love with a beautiful teenager (we were both 12 at the time) of Polish descent.

If this guy is acting out of malice toward gays, because he has a guilt complex over a closeted gay or bi and can’t come to terms with it and can’t handle it…… and he then stabs the gay guy 19 times in his stomach, he is obviously operating out of uncontrolled hate toward members of a group that is targeted for hate crimes and murders just because of who they are….in his case because he is hates and fears the gay sexual impulses in himself toward other men and is freaking out over it.

This is a crime born of self-hatred causing him to feel uncontrolled hatred toward other men with the same inclinations.

If you can’t controll your hatreds and emotions and you are a danger to yourself and to society, something needs to be done. Society needs to be protected from a man who didn’t available himself of psychiatric and medical help and counseling and of anger management resources. In spite of his options and other choices, he killed a gay man in cold blood.

Now there is no choice, he’s done it and society needs to protected from him. He is too dangerous to be allowed back on the street and he needs to be locked up until either too senile, old and fragile to hurt a fly or he needs to expire of nature causes due to advanced old age behind bars.

This guy is too scary and to out of control to be ever trusted again next to another gay guy in public. I really fear he’d do the same to his next gay sex partner. Prison in life is a bargain for him just as it was for the 2 cowardly low-lifes who murdered Matthew Shepard in the barbaric and cold-blooded way they did gun-whipping his head. The only place on Matthew’s face not to have his blood totally there was where his tears ran down his face as his life was being robbed from him. And tied to a fence and left to die.

This is not a whole lot different. Hate whatever the motivation for it is still hate. And this man was targeted by hate as soon as the comsumated sex turn to guilt, then anger, then full-blown uncontrolled rage. Murder not in the act of self-defense (or not as a truly accidental, extremely unfortunate and unintended killing as in a parent not aware of a kid suddenly behind his/her car and rolling over the kid etc,) is usually a hate crime.

How does that remove it from being a hate crime? A person can kill someone out of hate for their sexual orientation despite the fact they might have that same sort of attraction.
