Gay porn student to transfer

(Grove City, Pennsylvania) A student at a small Christian college in Western Pennsylvania said Tuesday that he has lost his appeal to overturn his suspension for appearing in online gay pornography.
John Gechter, 22, a molecular biology senior, is suspended from Grove City College, about 50 miles north of Pittsburgh, for one year.Gechter said he now intends to transfer to another school to complete the number of credits he needs to graduate. He said he hopes to use the credits to return to Grove City College and graduate next year.
A spokesperson for the college would confirm only that Gechter has withdrawn.
He has not indicated where he intends to complete his studies and says he is still considering a lawsuit against the college.
Gechter earlier this week said he appeared in the online porn because he needed the money to pay his tuition and that he was suspended because of “my occupation. I was not doing anything illegal.”
The college said he was suspended because he “exhibited behavior contrary to the values” of the college.
He began is outside career when he was a sophomore, appearing in about 15 gay porn scenes under the screen name Vincent DeSalvo.
In an interview with The Allied News, he said his secret was discovered by another student who had been surfing the internet. That student, according to Gechter, then emailed photos of a naked Gechter to other students.
Within hours, almost everyone on the campus had received the email. The following day the pictures came to the attention of college officials.
The non-denominational college says on its website “The ethical absolutes of the Ten Commandments and Christ’s moral teachings guide the effort to develop intellect and character in the classroom, chapel, and cocurricular activities.”
In 2003, the Princeton Review listing of colleges across the country listed Grove City College as the least gay-friendly campus in the country.

Hey John. find a way to make the experience work for you. Trust me, your better off outside that environment.
“In an interview with The Allied News, he said his secret was discovered by another student who had been surfing the internet. That student, according to Gechter, then emailed photos of a naked Gechter to other students.”
And we ALL know what this other student was “surfing” for…
If they insist on following the ten commandments and the teachings of Jesus, then what’s their problem? None of the ten commandments forbid you to star in porn. Nor do they forbid you to be gay. And they certainly don’t forbid you to be in gay porn. Neither does Jesus. In fact, Jesus only ever made one mention of homosexuality, and he seemed to be completely indifferent to it, because it came up in his description of what the rapture would be like, and halves of couples were taken to heaven while their partners were left behind. One of them was specifically a gay couple, and their sexuality wasn’t in question. They just happened to be gay. One went to heaven, despite being gay (which means being gay isn’t a sin), while the other was left behind. He wasn’t deriding homosexuality in that passage. He was simply pointing out that no couple of any kind or combination is safe from being separated during rapture. Not straights, not gays, not brothers or sisters, mothers and sons, fathers and daughters, etc.
So, what’s that school’s justification now, if they’re really only about the principles mentioned in this article?
“The non-denominational college says on its website ‘The ethical absolutes of the Ten Commandments and Christ’s moral teachings guide the effort to develop intellect and character in the classroom, chapel, and cocurricular activities.’”
Neither the Ten Commandments nor the teachings of Christ say anything about pornography. In the New Testament period, homes commonly had pictures of sex between members of the same and opposite sexes gracing the walls and furniture. The “ethical absolutes” that guide the college’s teaching are much more recent than they would have you believe.
By the way, I heard an interview with Gechter, and apparently the student who discovered his photos was a male.
Be proud of yourself young man. You showed up this bigoted institution. Probably part of the Kristian networks of “God hates” groups.
And be glad you are out of there. The only thing missing is for you to have had relations with one of the top level people there.
Or did you?
wonder if there was any action taking against the student who “accidentally” stumbled upon the porn. Because in all my years of surfing the net, I’ve accidentally stumbled across porn, umm… never. I don’t look for it, and it doesn’t magically appear.
I would think that surfing for porn would also qualify as a cocurricular activity warrenting expulsion.
Isn’t he the guy that said you can’t see if there is a log (splinter) in your own eye? let he who has not sinned cast the first stone? isn’t that the jesus this college follows?
hypocrits.
Did someone put a gun to John’s head and force him to attend this college? There are other and non-Christian colleges for him to attend if he doesn’t like the rules of any one of them.
Dude’s a molecular biology major and he’s all insistent on going to some tiny, utterly forgettable school off I-79? What’s the real story? Why not go to Pitt, or Indiana (of PA), or any other school in western PA with larger, better molecular biology programs?
Also wondering why there’s no word of disciplinary action against the surfer who found the pix…
porn producers will just use you for low pay while your still young and hot, then spit you out.Remember those images of you are around forever.
I do not agree with the college administration’s decision. The one thing that I am trying to figure out is that if this college was listed as one of the least gay-friendly college, why bother going? I mean why support them and pay their tuition? I would have made a different choice of college.
What is a molecular biology student doing at a college which ruins people’s minds with superstition in the first place?
I checked through the info on the Biology faculty. One word was conspicuous by its absence… Evolution, which is what biology is all about, and the one process that works without any supernatural interference.
How do biologists at that place reconcile faith with facts? Do they seriously think that man has been around for 200,000 years, nearly going extinct – while Heaven watches impassively for almost all this time, and about 196,000 years later, suddenly decides to appear to an illiterate tribe at Mt Sinai and tell them, as if they didn’t know – not to kill, steal or lie? A virgin birth is more likely.
I think Gechter’s transfer will be a godsend. The first thing he should do is read a copy of Richard Dawkins’ God Delusion, so he can objectively appreciate the true wonder of his chosen subject.
So my question is why would parents send kids to these brainwashing institutions? Why would he attend this school knowing its values are couched in the bigotry and hate mongering of christianity?
I’ll never understand why people join cults that teach hate, and at times hate directed at them.
There are other social clubs that don’t discriminate. The christian cults should be extinguished.
Some schools and colleges have a certain mission in mind for a certain type of student, a Christian school where Christian stucents can go and feel comfortable around those who share in the school’s clearly stated beliefs, values, standard and mission?
He could have attended secular colleges where the school could care less what he did off campus so long as he didn’t commit a crime, hurt himself or someone else. He wasted his time and tuition money going to that place.
There is a time and place for everything and as others here have already stated, “You’re better off outside that environemnt” and to that I add the school is better off with you outside its environment. Works both ways. What were you thinking attending a place that is clearly not right for you and where you are clearly not right for that place, for its mission, for its values and its standards?
Oh, don’t get me wrong. John is FAR better off outside that environment – but it most DEFINITELY is that school’s LOSS. The school is little more than a modern day cult. Now, if we could only keep religious people out of public schools, THAT would be fair. As things stand now, they can bring their twisted views of the world to both private and public schools.
The posters on this comment thread are forgetting something… Fundie parents brainwash their Fundie children. Many times, they threaten to withhold any financial assistance to their child if he/she doesn’t attend a particular religious college. Do you know how many closeted gays go to Liberty University only to appease their parents? I was once in a similar situation.
