KnowThyNeighbor.org wanted to announce publishing the names of the signers of this anti-gay petition before signature collection started but was pressured out of doing so by Equality Maine. The initiative petition was NOT considered to be something that should be de-railed with this strategy and truth squading. EQME wanted to just focus on the ballot, in a quiet, non-confrontational campaign. We will see if EQME was right or not after November. Nonetheless, KTN.org will publish names so we can see who did this to us, after November 2009

Maine is not California, and tourism is a larger percentage of its economy. Boycotts will hurt it. The people of Maine need to think about that before they accord themselves the luxury of kicking gay people like dogs.

Hang on a minute under the American values system framework there are five words:

ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL.

What part of ‘ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL’ don’t the bigots understand????? Is it the “ALL” part

– Or does the term “ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL” – only apply to white, heterosexual males without a disability who are wealthy and rich or what???

So intern, the term:

ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL*

*Does not apply if you are;
(a) a woman
(b) African-American or black
(c) Latino or Phillipino
(d) disabled
(e) transgender
(f) gay, lesbian or bisexual or
(g) if you are poor

For those calling for riots, I don’t think you realize just how ludicrous the sight of a bunch of northern New Englanders rioting would actually be…

That said, let’s all pitch in and do our part and volunteer our time or donate: http://mainefreedomtomarry.com/ This is going to be tough because it’s an off-year election and traditionally it’s the conservatives who turn out.

We’ve got roughly 30% of the population rabidly for our rights, and 30% rabidly against, so our job is to get the uninvolved 40% on our side and to the polls this November.

Also locals who are in the closet: let’s start a movement to come out to at least one or two people you trust and ask them to help us with a vote for marriage this November. That’s how it’s done: individual by individual, getting one another to stand united. My straight friends surprised me by proudly standing up for marriage in NH. In VT it was the same.

And maybe the out-of-staters can pitch in by placing a long-overdue call to Auntie Marge up in Bangor. It’s rained all summer, she’ll be thrilled to hear from you…

I just want to know when it became legal for people to vote on civil rights of other law-abiding Americans. It just isn’t right. How would they feel if we got to vote on their civil rights? Homosexuality is no longer illegal in this country. What is this bullshit that people think they can vote civil rights away for law abiding citizens? Who said that was okay?

I will never understand how people can spend so much of their time making sure other people are miserable. Mark Mutty can surely find something better to do with his time. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for y’all in Maine.
