I heard a story about signature gatherers in New York that would have you sign something innocent and then ask you to sign a "copy" form. Well, the copy was not a copy at all but another signature form for something entirely different.

If you live in Maine and see a signature collector go find out exactly what they are collecting. See if they are bait and switching the forms. This is a highly illegal practice and if the person is caught then all the signatures they gathered can be thrown out.

Now that marriage equality in Maine has been legislated, why should the anti same-sex marriage haters be allowed to call for a referendum? Aren't those legislated rights for the minority protected from the tyranny of the majority mob rule which is what referenda are all about anyway? I don't get it.

I am glad that the "six by twelve" campaign is working - now for New Hampshire and Rhode Island need to get on board with MARRIAGE EQUALITY - NOT SEPERATE-BUT-EQUAL EQUALITY [AKA CIVIL SHIT AS I CALL IT]. How about I trade you [the government] "monopoly money" for paying my taxes hey, it is money, but not real money - civil union are exacly the same as that????

Its a tad too early to celebrate as there's likely to be a "peoples veto", bascially the homophobes only need 55k signatures in the next 90 days and if they get that well then gay marriage will be on hold until there is a referendum where the public will vote on our rights and that will probably be in 2010, so our battle now is to convince the public that we deserve gay marriage and if the majority vote in favor thats when we can celebrate.

Don't think anybody's celebration is automatically ignoring the possibility of being denied equality at the last minute. We have to fight to reach equality, we'll have to fight to hold onto it, but there's been more movement in two months than in many years. Thanks to the gay activists who have blazed the trail, but thanks also to supporters of civil rights, like Coretta Scott King, and thanks to the STR8 legislators who voted for this. Look ma--no action forced by the courts!

Although I understand that these victories through legislatures represent true victory over hearts and minds, it occurs to me that they could be quite temporary.

With no judicial protection for Gay marriage, when the wind begins to blow from another direction what the legislature giveth the legislature can taketh away.

In the end, there will be no real Gay marriage in the USA until the Supremes decide there is.

God Bless activist judges.
