Gay man shot on Baltimore street

(Baltimore, Maryland) A gay Baltimore man is in critical but stable condition after being shot in what police say is a suspected hate crime.

Police say the victim, whose name is being withheld for his own security, was walking with his partner when they approached by a man on a bicycle.

The man stopped to talk with the cyclist while the partner walked ahead.

The partner told police he then heard pops that sounded like gun shots and turned to see the victim fall to the ground.

The man the victim was talking to began running, then turned and came back for the bike. He then rode off.

The partner has unable to to provide police with a full description of the suspect.  The victim is unconscious. Police hope he will be able to provide more details.

Police also said they do not know if the victim and his assailant knew each other.

    • I hope the guy will be ok!

What I don’t understand is why would his partner keep on walking when this guy on the bike came up to them?

      Sounds fishy to me…

    • Don’t talk to strangers, even if they seem nice. Criminals and thieves think that we are vulnerable and easy targets. In this economy they are more desperate than ever so we as gay people need to be extra careful and aware of our surroundings whilst walking about minding our business. You never know when a thug is going to come jump you.

    • You can lay all these hate crimes at the feet of the religious right, and their pandering leaders. The same people who talk about protecting life.

If only we had a “proxy murder” law. Where those who incite hatred via religion, are held responsible as accessories before the fact for the crimes they cause to happen.

    • He was smoking and kids often stop to bum cigaretts off him, his partner assuming this was the case also, kept walking when the kid stopped them, he wasn’t but a few steps away.
