Loading ...Gay foe sues over Obama citizenship

(Sacramento, California) Longtime gay foe and former Obama challenger Allan Keyes has filed a lawsuit in California to block the state from giving its electoral votes to the President-elect until Obama provides documentary evidence that he is indeed a natural born citizen of the United States.
The suit was filed Monday in Superior Court in Sacramento.Keyes ran for the presidency under the American Independent Party. In 2004, he ran against Obama as a Republican for the U.S. Senate seat in Illinois.
The Obama campaign countered similar accusations during the presidential primaries by posting Obama’s certification of live birth, and saying: “Barack Obama was born in the state of Hawaii in 1961, a native citizen of the United States of America.”
The state of Hawaii in October said that Obama’s birth certificate is genuine. The Constitution requires that a President must have been born in the US.
Keyes, a Maryland conservative radio commentator, was parachuted into Illinois to run against Obama in 2004. He has a long history of anti-gay rhetoric and during the senatorial campaign accused Obama of being soft on gay marriage, after the Democrat said he opposed an amendment to the Constitution that would ban same-sex marriage.
In an interview with the Chicago Tribune during the campaign, Keyes accused Obama of talking out of both sides of his mouth when it comes to same-sex marriage.
“He knows black people oppose gay marriage,” and he speaks out against it in black communities, Keyes said. “But he takes out full-page ads in the gay newspapers putting 100 percent of his support behind the gay agenda.”
Keyes has frequently spoken out against adding sexual orientation to human rights laws federally and in Maryland, and has fought against including gays in hate crimes laws. Keyes has consistently maintained that gay rights cannot be compared to the struggle for equality faced by African Americans.
In a 2004, radio interview Keyes dismissed a question from a WBEZ reporter that sexuality might be biologically determined.
“We as human beings cannot assert that our sexual desires cannot be controlled,” Keyes said. He said such a claim would “consign us to the real of instinctual animal nature– and we are not there.”
Keyes was equally outspoken at the 2004 Republican National Convention. During a convention interview with Sirius OutQ radio host Michelangelo Signorile, Keyes called homosexuality “selfish hedonism.”
Signorile then asked Keyes whether he considered Mary Cheney, the lesbian daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney a “selfish hedonist.”
“Of course she is,” Keyes replied. “That goes by definition. Of course she is.”
“If we embrace homosexuality as a proper basis for marriage, we are saying that it’s possible to have a marriage state that in principle excludes procreation and is based simply on the premise of selfish hedonism,” he told Signorile.
Keyes was roundly defeated by Obama in the race for the Senate and later joined the American Independent Party.
In 2005, Keyes’ own daughter came out and he severed ties with her. Since then, he has refused to discuss publicly his estrangement from Maya Marcel-Keyes.
The following year, an organizer for a conservative political action group founded by Keyes publicly linked homosexuality with infant pedophilia.
“The newest thing in Chicago, it’s becoming a trend, and you’re gonna find this hard to believe…sex with infants,” Guy Adams, of Renew America told an Internet radio show hosted by fellow conservative Stacy L. Harp.
Adams offered no evidence to back up his claims of infant pedophilia.
He appeared on Harp’s program to discuss the Gay Games, which had just concluded in Chicago and embarked on a nearly 30 minute with Harp to attack gays.
“It’s not enough that they have…you know when you engage in perversion, and homosexuality is perversion, we don’t hate the gays mind you, we don’t hate them, we hate what they’re doing…pretty soon that perversion is like addiction, it’s not enough, so you need to graduate to something else. You need to move on. So now they’re having sex with animals, a small group that’s getting bigger, sex with infants, sex in the street in Chicago out in the open, it’s just getting more and more perverted.”
Keyes is such a loser. He can’t get over the fact that he lost to Obama by 79% in Illinois when they were both running for US Senator. Any man who disowns his own daughter is unfit to even be dog catcher.
Allan Keyes is right: once you “allow” homosexuality, the next step is having sex with animals. Keyes turns me on. I have always looked at gorillas lustfully.
Keyes seems to be intent on making himself so ridiculous that no party will want him running for them. He’s beating a dead horse out of bitterness. It’s sad to see him continue to decline.
What an idiot. What does he want besides the State of Hawaii to vouch for Obama? What he should really go ponder is whether McCain would have qualified as a “natural born citizen” after having been born in Panama. McCain is, of course, having been born to American parents on an American military base but *that* situation raises a whole lot more legal questions than Obama’s birth. Maybe Keyes needs to re-read the Fourteenth Amendment.
Frankly, the whole thing smells of a stupid publicity stunt by a minor player in the dying conservative talk radio industry. I guess everyone’s got to earn a paycheck somehow.

You will be happy to know that the NAACP has sued California to invalidate Proposition 8. The NAACP suit says that the civil rights of LGBT presons is of equal importance to the civil rights of people of color and women. I’ll take moral instruction from the NAACP before I’ll listen to Mr. Keyes. Of course one has to feel very sorry for his lesbian daughter. At least Mary Cheney’s father kept his mouth shut on the issue. Imagine how badly Mr. Keyes has scarred his daughter.
Keyes grows more and more desperate with each passing year. His whole world view is crashing all around him as more and more people reject his fearmongering, hatemongering paranoia. He’s a clown. I feel great sympathy for his daughter. Hopefully one day she’ll write a book and tell all.
What a moron. Why is it he and other neocon fasicsts aren’t challenging John McCain’s citizenship? Nobody brought that up during the campaign. There is one however that even tops these purveyors mid evil dark age thought, and that can be no other than the infamous Rev Fred Phelps of GOD HATES FAGS fame from Topeka Kansas.
To those who may not know Fred Phelps among other things was famous for picketing the funerals of fallen service men returning from the war.
This of course had nothing to do with gay or straight but he claimed that their death’s were the result of God’s wrath on the United States for tolerating homosexual behavior.
Needless to say this nut wing rhetoric caused even typical generic conservatives to pause and wonder if “they” were interpreted as irrational to their peers on both sides of the fence.
These people, especially if they are tied to a fundamental religion have done our movement great good in ways we never could have.
Zel Miller, Fred Phelps, and Allen Keys are our national treasures, and great assets to the movement when applied strategically.
As time goes on, and Obama consolidates his power, even those on the right will most likely abandon some of their intolerance for reason, if Obama proves to be the great leader he is promised to be.
If this truly is the case, as time goes on, Hannity and Limbaugh will rise to the level of the 3 wing nuts mentioned above.

sfmuscular : Yes, Keyes is nutty, and I greatly admire his daughter for coming out, but I would never take any kind of “moral” instruction from the NAACP after they excused the barbarity of Michael Vick (”..they’re ONLY dogs..”). I don’t even want them on my side. They’re irrelevant to me.

So is Keyes asserting that gay sex is better than straight because there’s no period or baby to get in the way? Just how straight is this wingnut anyway?
Keyes’ own daughter, Maya, a young gay woman had to leave his home, because he is so antigay. Fortunately, she was able to be helped re: her education funding, etc.

The only organization that I know of that gives bright gay young adults (who are lacking financial resources or may have been kicked out of their parents’ home but who are deteremined to go to college) the financial help for higher education in return for a commitment on the part of the college aid recipient to give something back to the GLBT community.
How ironic that Allan Keyes ran for President as the candidate of the American Independent Party — the same party for which George “segregation now, segregation forever” Wallace was the standard bearer in 1968!
