I find it interesting that this is being investigated more now that there is a need for more soldiers. The military seems to work this way. When they have too many recruits, they tighten the requirements, and when they need more they let more things slide. Now it seems they want more troops, and letting the brain-dead dropouts come in isn’t working, so they’re finally looking to take the gays that they really didn’t want in their club.

I whole heatedly support allowing gays to server, and it is long past time to dump DADT, but it would be nice if it was out of a sense of equality, not the need for more troops.

Obammy and friends said they would get rid of DADT, and yes its time. Hopefully this joker will keep a few of his promises. We all know he hasn’t done a whole lot so far. Time to get off your butt, earn your keep and quit blaming Bush.

End the damned ban, or lets have a national military coming out day. When the pentagon is faced with perhaps 50,000 or more troops coming out and asking to be discharged under DADT, that will be the end of DADT in a week.

And it will be the end of another of the hate filled churches using the bible as a weapon.

For all they fear is that those good christian boys will discover that gay people are good people and good soldiers. And he church will be exposed.

I just recieved a plea for money for the DNC from the president (isn’t it tacky for a sitting president to beg for money?).

I wrote in huge letters “not one dime until DOMA and DADT are repealled” and sent it in, using their postage paid envelope.

Stupid DNC..I’m not a Democrat and have never given money to any political party, so a wasted mailing now becomes a cost to them.

We should all do this, if there were enough, they might notices.

What we need folks is a massive accumulation of GLBT VETERANS to show up at the whitehouse in massive numbers..

Maybe when congess and our wuss of a POTUS sees that we have BEEN there all along in NUMBERS they’ll have absolutely NO leg to stand on to retain this idiotic phobia the military has..
I served in the Marines and retired after 22 yrs with a glowing record.. and I am gay, hello.. always was, always will be.
guess my service wasnt wanted? congress must PAY me for life.. tough shit, eh Obama?

I am ashamed at what wusses we are. We need direct action against this outrageous policy: demonstrations, picketing, shutting down recruitment centers, having openly gay and lesbian people take up submit applications, etc. Where is an ACT-UP organization when we need it? Where are our leaders? Instead of whining about Obama’s failure to lead, we should be demanding action and causing so much consternation that it will be simpler for the bastards to give up and do the right thing.

Hopefully our commander in chief will grow a set of ***** and reverse DADT. This policy only leads to diviciveness, promotes hatred and violence, weakens our military and makes us look hypocritical to the rest of the world; since we always bash other countries over human rights while we encourage prejudice, homophobia and violence, against minorities in our own country…look who is calling the kettle black…our nation is loosing it’s credibility!

Truman wasn’t black. Truman ended segregation in the armed forces. Congress could’ve fought it, but notice they didn’t–and that was in 1948, when the Dixiecrats were in their glory. Obama can’t muster the same courage as Truman did 61 years ago. He could issue an executive order which would also be a challenge to Congress. He’s so “busy” not building a nonexistent consensus when he could issue an executive order and thereby establish the parameters of discussion. What kind of politician refuses the opportunity to establish the terms of discussion AND look like a true leader with public support, all with a minimum of risk?
