Lesbian and Gay Band Association to Perform in Obama Inaugural Parade
The Lesbian and Gay Band Association (LGBA), a musical organization comprising marching and concert bands from across the United States and around the world, has been chosen to perform in the parade for President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration on January 20, 2009. This is the first time in history that a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender group will march in a Presidential Inaugural Parade. The 177-piece LGBA band will join groups from across the country as well as from the Armed Forces in the historic parade down Pennsylvania Avenue, which follows President-elect Barack Obama’s swearing-in ceremony on the steps of the Capitol.

What I find interesting in all of this is that normally the time between filing a lawsuit and having it adjudicated takes many months if not years.
Of course, in this country wherein we are all protected equally under the law, I have a sneaking suspicion that this lawsuit will jump far far ahead of the other lawsuits already on the docket.

Come on, Jim. If Coleman had been 225 votes after the recount and there were legal avenues available in the courts, we’d be all in favor of Franken pursuing those options. Would we then be crooks and liars? Of course not.

Coleman didn’t run for the fun of it. He ran to win. I hope he doesn’t win, but I can’t fault him for trying any legal tactic to gain that victory. It doesn’t make him a crook or a liar. It makes him a politician.

Unlike the current leaders of the DNC, Al Franken is a true friend of the GLBT community since he believes in the right of same sex couples to marry. It will be a real travesty if the Christofascists usurped the Senate seat he has won.

Al Franken won the Minnesota senate seat but the GOP crooks and liars will try to block him taking his senate seat using every lame excuse. Where are Democrat leaders Reid and Pelosi in all of this? Hiding and playing the “appease the GOP” game! Reid needs to be replaced by someone with huevos.
