Forth Worth resident breaks his silence about Rainbow Lounge raid

(Fort Worth) Chad Gibson, a Fort Worth resident who was allegedly hurt the worst during a police raid of the gay club the Rainbow Lounge, is finally speaking out about his arrest.

Protestors have frequently been speaking out about the questionable raid that resulted in sending Gibson to the hospital for seven days with head injuries. The incident occurred on June 28 when two TABC and seven Fort Worth police officers raided the newly opened Rainbow Lounge nightclub. This is the first time Gibson has spoken about his arrest.

According to witnesses, Gibson was manhandled by officers and slammed to the ground, even though they were unprovoked. Police have constructed a different story, saying an intoxicated Gibson grabbed an officer’s groin.

Gibson finally broke his silence last night to WFAA-TV in Fort Worth. He told a WFAA reporter that he wants the officers involved in the raid to be prosecuted, saying the response by the city of Fort Worth has been a cover up.

“They have blamed it on me, that I was drunk [and] that I hit my head,” he said. “I groped the officer. I did this. I did that.  You know what, no … Accept responsibility.”

Gibson is still fearful of a blood clot located behind his right eye.

“I’m scared that something might happen,” Gibson said. “It might start bleeding.”

The incident is currently being investigated by Forth Worth police.

    • This raid is nothing more than modern day Bull Conner civil rights violations, only thing missing was fire hoses and police dogs. This is proof positive that GLBT people need to be added to the 1964 civil rights legislation. Thank gawd that Our Chad Gibson didn’t die because then every brain dead Texan could say that’s what he gets for touching the crotch of a heterosexual. As if that would ever happen in that situation. How many black men have been attacked by Texas police because they touched a white man? We are the last officially oppressed Americans, and America continues to live the lie. What those Texas storm troopers did at the Rainbow Lounge is paramount to a modern lynching. Gay is America’s new black, and we are just low life Giggers. Shame on any American that thinks they have any right at all to talk about what rights some of their fellow American’s should not have. Shame, shame, shame on Texas, and that chief of police. Here is every Americans opportunity to ride those integrated buses into Birmingham. The civil rights movement is not over! America may well be the home of the brave (like my ninth Great-grandfather that fought the British to create America,or my father that fought in Korea and left his twin brother dead there in service to America) but we have yet to be the land of the free for one of my father’s children and two of his grandchildren. Shame on America for living the lie that all Americans are equal.
Hope to see you in Washington DC October 11th for our civil rights march. Bring with you a good and decent heterosexual American or 10 that knows freedom should include every American.

    • Even if he had grabbed a cop’s basket…so the F what????
That means he gets to be beaten nearly to death?
I’m just a little tired of city police forces acting like thugs.
They are supposed to be here to protect the public, not beat us.
What happened to removing the guy’s hand and saying, HEY Bud!! Not interested!
      Usually doesn’t require a bat.
      Breeder boys are such pussies.

    • Obviously, there are some people who don’t understand the law. There cannot be any FBI hate investigation into this because TEXAS DOES NOT HAVE A HATE CRIME LAW for GLBT attacks. The person to thank for that is Good ole boy Rick Perry, you know the same one who talks about Texas leaving the union. The same one who compaigned against same-sex marriage here in Texas. The same red neck who’s hatred of the GLBT community is well known. Yeah that guy! If you want changes then help throw this red neck out of office. Throw the mayor of Fort Worth out of office. Get a hate crime law passed in Texas for the GLBT community.

    • This is a tradgedy. How do we keep this story alive and deliver the Ft. Worth police department a severe blow for the innapropriate behavior? It is clear they are lying to cover up their abuse.

    • The Menstruator….LOL!!! I wish Austin was not apart of Texas. I moved from West Texas ( San Angelo ) we had a seasonal gay bar, with police protecting outside everynight. So, i’m thankful I moved to a city where I can go to a gay church, bar, resturant, ect. in peace. Looking for a gay friendly job,Austin is a great choice. Again, please e-mail your State Offices and express your concerns. It would also help if you support HRC or other org. that help with the movement. Or even support only compianes that support anti-gay laws in the workplace.

    • The US Supreme Court struck down sodomy laws throughout this land and invalidated the sodomy law of Texas, etc.

    • Oh come on commenter, everyone knows Austin isn’t really Texas.

    • I CAN’T STOP I HAVE TO SAY THIS: TEXAS IS A GREAT STATE, I LOVE LIVING IN TEXAS. SOME PARTS LIKE ANY OTHER STATE ARE ANTI-GAY. IF YOUR COMMING TO TEXAS, VISIT AUSTIN TEXAS. STAY AWAY FROM WEST PARTS OF TEXAS, AND NORTH PARTS LIKE DALLAS AND FORT WORTH. CORPUS CHRISTI IS VERY GAY FRIENDLY JUST LIKE AUSTIN. WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU HERE. AGAIN, BE SAFE AND ENJOY YOUR STAY WHILE VISITING TEXAS.

    • IF YOU WANT TO GET THINGS DONE, CONTACT THE FORT WORTH POLICE DEPARTMENT, FORT WORTH CHAMMBER OF COMM., OR ANY STATE OFFICE THAT CAN ACT IN A FAIR WAY. SHARE WITH THEM YOUR CONCERNS. YOU ARE A TAXPAYER. I CONTACTED THE CHAMMBER OF FORT WORTH AND SENT AN E-MAIL TO THEM. I LIVE IN AUSTIN TEXAS, AND WILL NOT TRAVEL TO FORT WORTH UNTIL SOMETHING FAIR HAPPENS. KEEP IN MIND, IF YOUR DRUNK OR TOUCH SOMEONES BODY WITHOUT THEIR APPROVEL, YOU HAVE BROKEN THE LAW. IF EVEN HAVE TO BEHAVE IN A GAY BAR. LET’S GET OUR RIGHTS, THE RIGHT WAY. BE SAFE!

    • Found this 1878 law still in the law books of Texas:

      (b) An offense under this section is a Class C misdemeanor.

      § 12.23. Class C Misdemeanor
An individual adjudged guilty of a Class C misdemeanor shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $500.
