Former Miss California sues over firing

(Los Angeles) Former Miss California USA Carrie PrejeanĀ  has sued pageant officials for libel, slander and religious discrimination.

Court records show Prejean sued California pageant executive director Keith Lewis and actress and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler in Los Angeles on Monday.

Prejean was fired in June by pageant officials, who cited missed scheduled appearances.

Prejean’s attorney says that’s not true and his client was ousted because of controversial remarks in April during the Miss USA pageant that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

Representatives for Lewis and Moakler said they had no public comment yet on the lawsuit.

Her lawsuit claims they told Prejean to stop mentioning God.

    • This is just a publicity stunt to buy her more time in the spotlight, while she tries to finish up the book she’s supposed to be writing. She’s probably hoping that the case DOES get thrown out or that she looses it so she can continue to play the martyr card.

    • Carrie Prejean wants to be in the limelight again. She should instead submerge herself in Christ and learn to forgive and forget. That is what good Christian girls are suppose to do, right?

    • This is a “slap suit” and anyway, the truth is a perfect defence against libel and slander. How could she win? She’s guilty guilty guilty!

    • Let’s hope the judge has the good sense to can her frivolous lawsuit. She was likely fired for not upholding her part of her contract, for not making appearances that as Miss California she was supposed to make. She wasn’t really interested in being Miss California. As we all know she had “other” motives and she knew her title would lend prestige to her thus making her a useful tool for fanatics out to kill marriage equality.

    • Carrie Prejean is a symbol of everything that is bad and unhonorable. She is the poster child of hate and intolerance. This is not about her rights of free speech but an another attempt to keep in the spotlight and play the “victim”
