(Los Angeles) Former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean says she lost her crown because of a comment she made about gay marriage and not because she had been skipping appearances.
Prejean told Matt Lauer on NBC’S “Today” show Friday that she “absolutely” had been dethroned because of the comment, when she said marriage should be between a man and a woman.Prejean lost her title Wednesday after the California pageant’s executive director said Prejean was skipping Miss California USA events while speaking out against gay marriage at unsanctioned appearances.
Prejean denied that and calls her firing a set up. She says “tolerance needs to be a two-way street.”
Prejean was replaced by the Miss California pageant’s first runner-up, Miss Malibu Tami Farrell.
Hostile, stubborn, hypocritical and righteous. Not to mention a insipid media whore. What a train wreck! She needs an intervention.
Putting silicone in her breasts worked at making them bigger, maybe she should try some in her brain, that might help enlarge it as well!
She was fired for not upholding her contract. It has nothing to do with her comment, although I can’t say that I’m not happy to see her go. We don’t tolerate white supremists, why tolerate hetero-supremists?
Wow, she needs to learn to shut up while she is ahead, or she will be the posterchild of “dumb blondes.”
She was able to skirt getting das boote back when she violated her contract by not divulging she posed semi-nude when she was still a minor, mind you, and Trump warned her that she needs to do her job as Miss California and appear at certain locations. Miss California is a job, and if you fail to show up for work, after so many times, your boss will fire you. That is what Trump did.
Lol I always think it’s funny when people think stuff like “my freedom of speech gives me the rights to take away your rights”, such as with the prop 8 debacle. Your rights end where another person begins. How can they complain that we are taking away their right to free speech, a right that they are using to literally strip us of ours?
Just once I’d like to see an interviewer, such as Matt Lauer, actually challenge the remark “tolerance is a two way street”. I don’t see her or her “community” fighting for rights. He should have said: “gay people are fighting for rights that you already have, and for employment non-discrimination, fair housing, ability to serve in the military, etc., so gay people are justified in being angry.” Any other minority group would get that type of consideration. If she said she believed in separation of the races, she would be challenged fiercely, as should be. What really gets me are the likes of Anderson Cooper, who IS gay, and won’t aggresively challenge his guests bigoted views. Not pushing people like Miss California on their views just gives more fuel to the fire for the Christian Right, and sets her up as a poor victim of those mean and bitchy gays.
I never viewed her as being very intelligent period!

Chris, I totally concur with you. In addition, she lost her job because Donald Trump said that she violated her contractual agreement to show up at several events at which she was a no-show. It was Donald Trump, who owns the pageant, who reinstated her. So, she’s a liar. She paints tolerance with a very broad brush by the comment she made. Its tantamount to saying that one must tolerate white supremacist sects, home grown terrorists who bomb, kill and mame employees at women’s reproductive clinics that are legal. This demonstrates her stupidity. She’s hardly an ambassador for California let alone the U.S. She’s an embarrassment to herself and to women in general and deserves what she gets. When Perez Hilton asked her a legitimate question, all she had to do was say “yes” or “no”. He didn’t ask her for her religious beliefs to justify her response. I have zero sympathy for her after this.
Firing Carrie Prejean was a waste of time. The new Miss California Tami Farrell of Malibu is no better than her. They are both the same and both hate gay marriage.

I absolutely agree with her – tolerance does need to be a two-way street. While I disagree with anyone who believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman, it is a perfectly legitimate opinion. We should be tolerant of that opinion just as she should be tolerant of ours.
The trouble is, she used her position to not only express that opinion, but to convince others of it in an effort to deny the gay community basic rights.
She should not have lost her crown because she held the opinion she did. She should not have lost her crown because she expressed that opinion. She should and DID lose her crown because she abused her position by using her title to provide her with a platform she would otherwise not have had so that she could trample over the rights of a minority group.
If she can’t understand that she’s even more stupid than I thought she was already.
Asking someone to be tolerant of others who are merely different than themsleves in regard to whom they love is not the same thing as asking someone to be tolerant of people who spread lies and devisive rhetoric that destroys lives.
So no, tolerance does not need to be a two way street when you are asking intelligent, well reasoned people to be tolerant of ignorant and hateful people.
So… we should tolerate the KKK and the all other hate groups because tolerance needs to be a “two way street”
