LOrion it’s so heart warming to see high school students standing up for gay rights in Fred Phelps backyard. The link you provided has been removed by the Wichita Eagle. Maybe the religious fundies got to them?

The case law on this is getting pretty darn clear. I’m surprised any school is still fighting this. They can’t win in court.

It seems that there’s no doubt that these homophobic school administrators know that they’re likely to lose each of these lawsuits, given that I can’t think of one example in the nation where the bigots have won. It really is just their attempt to turn this into a war of attrition. Slash and burn, basically. Trying to exhaust the resources and stamina of their enemies, those goddam homyosekshurals. They are angry, and don’t care who gets hurt in the process as long as they go down fighting. It’s as though they’re afraid their communities will turn on them if they don’t put up a fight. And maybe they would, probably. But we’ll surely win this one, and every other one that comes up. We have tons of case law and precedent. The law is pretty clear on this.

I wonder if the ACLU is asking to get their costs recovered from the Okeechobee case. If the ACLU were to be able to recover costs and if their costs were similar to the school’s costs, the school’s bigotry will end up costing them well over a half a million dollars.

Wow, Glad I moved away from there in ‘90. The previous mayor was gay friendly.

I live in Florida. On all the news channels all I hear about is how much the school budgets are going to be short. There is talk about eliminating sports and all extra-cirricular activaties. If this is happening in this particular school district then there is no problem. No clubs or meetings will be held anyway. But if this school district is lucky enough to continue with these activaties then the G-S Club should be allowed to meet. Can that school district actually afford to really pay any kind of settlement? Or are they really willing to screw the children that they are suppose to instruct. Either way it will be the students (and even the teachers) that will be getting the shaft.
