It's nice that so many Americans are interested in fighting HIV/AIDS in Africa. However, the assumption that all Americans can afford treatment is ludicrous. It makes one suspect the disease is still considered a "gay disease" in the US and unworthy of attention here, just like it was in the Reagan Era.

Gee, this would be great if Bush had been President of Africa.
Unfortunately, he was President of the United States, so regular everyday working citizens lost their homes, their jobs and their lives and limbs so Bush's multi-millionaire cronies and peers could get richer.
I'd say it looks like we'd been way better off if Bush HAD BEEN President of Africa.
Then he would have sent aid to us while finishing the job of trashing Africa.
I mean, come on, folks. The very last act of the Bush administration was to transfer 350 billion dollars of wealth from American taxpayers to the richest people in this country.
Not to keep the banks' doors open. So they could keep their corporate jets and their multi-million dollar bonuses while US citizens continue to lose their homes and jobs.
So, yeah. Hooray for Africa. So glad they had their President in our country for eight years.

I will forever regard George W Bush as the worst President in American history, as a man who single-handedly set back civil rights at least a decade, as a President who enabled the religious right to achieve more political power than it had ever previously known and as an enemy to the gay community.

However, there is no denying that he did a lot to help people in Africa, to help fight poverty as well as AIDS.

He was a shitty President, an even shittier human being, but proof that even the shittiest person can have some redeeming qualities. It's just a pity that the harm he has done far outweighs the good.
