		<description>Again I am forced to hang my head in shame for living in the state of FL. How many times will the state, the federal government, and the bigoted, ignorant people of this state (and many others throughout the U.S.) have to slap us in the face before it&#039;s too much?  And what happens when it IS too much - will we be separated from our life partners by force?  Will we be held captive by the all powerful government (or religious zealots who use the government for their benefit) for fear that our homosexuality may offend others?  We, as Americans (another shameful fact I have to admit), claim that we are the &quot;Best Country in the World&quot;.  The most educationally advanced, technologically advanced, and of course, who can forget the moral center of the universe.  And yet, I have to fight every day for my rights as a PERSON, a human being, to love who I choose, spend my time with who I choose, and want to be with that person when they pass - a right that ANY HUMAN BEING SHOULD HAVE.  Who should have to die alone?  What child - regardless of his/her parents sexual orientation should have to live the rest of their lives knowing that the ignorance of one government kept them from saying their farewells to their parent - their guardian - their life?  We, as a country in general, question the capability of terrorists.  We wonder how they could be such fanatics.  We ponder WHAT made them this way.  What single event in their life led them to the end result - a final desperate plea for someone to notice, to acknowledge the wrong doing, and YET we are creating them.  WE are causing that desperation.  The children of these two beautiful women will never, SHOULD never, trust in the US legal system again.  They will become anti American - I don&#039;t pretend to predict the future, but truly, who could blame them if they do?  What has the government done for them?  How has the government protected them?  Their mothers?  Their lives?  The &quot;Declaration of Independence&quot; states, and I quote, &quot;We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. &quot; - are we not all made from the same creator?  Whoever, whatever, however YOU personally believe that to have happened?  Shouldn&#039;t that offer us the same rights, as US Citizens, as inhabitors of the planet earth, as every other single living being?  My &quot;pursuit of happiness&quot; and yours may be, and probably ARE, two completely different pursuits.  However, one does not need to negate the other, SHOULD not negate the other.  Rodney King said it, and was right, why can&#039;t we all &quot;just get along&quot;.  As a state, as a country, as one earth?  Our forefathers set out to form a &quot;more perfect union&quot; - have they?  No.  Can we?  YES.

I send my DEEPEST sympathies to Janice Langbehn and her 3 children.  I wish you the best of luck in the battle that will ensue - I wish it didn&#039;t have to be that way.  And I send this message to your children, and to you, Janice - use your devastation, your anger, your loss in the best possible way.  Use it to see that the people who tried to control you are weak - feel sorry for them as much as you can and try not to allow that sympathy to turn into hate that will endanger you.  Live your life - I feel certain that is what your life partner, your mother, would want - though I have not met you, nor did I have the opportunity to know your partner, your mother, I know that LOVE is eternal - it is, despite how it may seem right now, ALL AROUND YOU.  We love you all - WE are all one family.  I am sorry.</description>

		<description>I think the only difference this would have made in Maine might possibly be its passage. The issue is Florida would still refuse to acknowledge Maine&#039;s law. There is supposed to be full faith and credit between states but I can certainly see where a person in Florida could deny it based on Florida law. Before I get comments yes I am aware that if marriage were permitted in Florida by gay people this situation probably wouldn&#039;t have happened. But face it Florida accepting Gay marriage would be like the old people giving up their social security checks. In other words hell would freeze over.</description>

		<description>I agree with footwork61 about possibly the most important aspect of the case I picked up from the story was the refusal of the medical staff to accept information from the partner of Ms Pond about her medical history. This information is probably the most important information a doctor can have when treating a patient in an emergency situation. Definitely has the potential for a medical malpractice suit, or even possibly criminal negligence.  I certainly hope that Janice&#039;s attorney&#039;s obtained the complete treatment record from the hospital during discovery, leading up to this case.</description>

Well i don&#039;t care thats just wrong, in my opinion.... I am a normal heterosexual male and even i think it shows the judge ruled wrong. My friend let me read this and i had to ask if he minded if i wrote a thaught, and he will probably read this after i post it but this story just ain&#039;t right by nowones standards.</description>

		<description>I agree with the previous statement regarding finding out the person who made the comment about the family being in an antigay city and state and setting up a protest out side there home. I don&#039;t understand why there are no gays or supporters currently picketing outside that hospital to let everyone who enters know the kind of care, or lack there of, they provide. 
When are we going to get together as  the &quot;family&quot; we claim to be and hit people where it really hurts; their pockets. We are denied rights, etc.  but when these very same people need support, who&#039;s incomes do they seek out? I personally ask anyone who requests money/donations from me to prove their organization&#039;s support for gays or keep moving. I don&#039;t care what the cause.
