Being a leader or follower does not matter, making a decision is what matters. Procrastination can only work for so long till the states are gonna have to suck it up and allow for EVERYONE to get married to who they wish to marry, no matter the anatomy of the people.

MARRIAGE is the only thing that should be accepted by GLBT Community!

I am human. I hold a job. I pay taxes. I live and breathe. I LOVE.

I should not be prevented from marrying because of WHO I love.

I'm confused. What has this story got to do with the Republican party? I understand that most Reps. are firmly behind marriage inequality, but the article never mentioned that the party had anything to do with this latest maneuver.

As another person already mentioned, the greatest obstacle in the legislature is a Democrat.

Don't assume that all conservatives or people against marriage equality are Republican [Marion Barry, Barack Obama].

Don't assume all Republicans are conservative. I signed on to be a Republican because I believe that I know better than the government what to do with my money and my body. The government's role is supposed to be to defend my liberty, not to define my liberty.

Sadly, most Republicans have lost this view. That's why there is the recent resurgence of the Libertarians.

I believe that this "wait until after the Nov. elections is nothing but a stall tactic. In fact, we were told the same exact thing last year and look where it got us.

A lot of people in NJ really hate, and I mean REALLY hate, Corzine. If he doesn't sign that bill I'd be scared for his career. There are loads of gays/lesbians in NJ, but their voice is often too scattered in varied directions. Once same sex marriage becomes trendy like your president more people will come on board. All the pres has to do is say he's for it and everyone would be down. The poor busy guy wouldn't even have to lift a finger.

The Garden State Equality organization is fantastic. I was being discriminated against at work, and I called them and they wrote a letter to my employer later that day, and the situation was solved the next morning. First I had called a national organization in New York and left several messages for them but never heard back. So I am a huge fan of Garden State. The only reason other states are passing marriage ahead of New Jersey is that this is an election year in New Jersey and not an election year in those other states. They wouldn't do a thing if their Governors and legislatures were up for election this year like in New Jersey. There's going to be marriage for all couples in New Jersey at the end of the year.

I'm surprised that 365gay did this article. There's been a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriages proposed in New Jersey for years and it's gone nowhere and will never go anywhere. New Jersey's process for amending the state constitution is one of the hardest in the nation and the Democrats who control the state legislature won't even let the bill out of committee before it gets to the people.

Linda Songe,

I saw what I saw, OK? And if you had checked farther down in my posting, you would have seen that I asked for comments for those who live in New Jersey as to what they could tell me about what was going on there. I was just asking for clarification, that's all. Sorry if you missed seeing that.

Take care,
Morgan

Come on Editors. Why is the "conservative" label still being used for people who are anything but conservative. These people want to force their opinions about homosexuality into law. That is not conservative. They want to take away our freedom to choose who we love and marry. That is not conservative. There is of course a better term than conservative to apply to these people. A more accurate term. It's "religious extremists". They are right down there with the Taliban in wanting to enforce their religious rules on the rest of society. It's time to call them by their correct name.
