(Rome) Italian stand-up comic Sabina Guzzanti is under investigation for “vilification” of the Pope for telling an audience that Benedict XVI would “go to hell and be pursued by two big, gay and very active devils.”
Pope Benedict is known for his vocal opposition to LGBT rights and same-sex marriage.Guzzanti was appearing at an anti-politics rally organized by satirist Beppy Grillo in Rome last July. If convicted, Guzzanti could be imprisoned for up to five years.
The Rome city prosecutor, Giovanni Ferrara, has asked the federal justice minister for permission to start criminal proceedings against Guzzanti. It is a criminal offense in Italy to “offend the honor” of the Pope or the Italian president.
Ferrara said that Guzzanti’s comments went beyond satire.
The Union of Christian Democrats, part of the ruling conservative coalition government in Italy said it would support the charges.
“These gratuitous insults must be punished,” said Luca Volonte, a spokesperson for the party.
Guzzanti is no stranger to controversy. She recently caused a firestorm by suggesting that Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s equal opportunities minister Mara Carfagna – who had previously worked as a topless model – got her job in exchange for performing oral sex on the Italian Premier.
The pope was in the German army and served in an anti-aircraft battalion. He was about 15. For that he can be pardoned, he had little choice.
But for what he does to gay people, including using others as proxy’s to murder them, based on the churches expressed hatreds – exactly what it is – of anyone not kow-towing to them, is beyond the limit. He should be held responsible for causing proxy mass murder by inciting the suicides of thousands of gay children. It sure seems like he learned the wrong lesson from the nazi-ism of his youth.
Eventually the church will change, or shrink to insignificance. But things happen too fast now to wait centuries or millenia for some enlightened old man to change it. Don’t hold your breath.
And it is time to start a movement to expose their hypocrisy and lies big time. Just like any other greedy capitalist, when the money stops flowing, and when the people spit on the church and its hatreds and lies, as they walk past it, maybe they will get the idea. Or maybe they will learn a lesson about hatred the in another way, from other kinds of extremists.
GOD Riddance to them.
People attack gays because we are essentially non-violent; no heterosexual has ever been murdered by a gay mob. The pope won’t pick on dangerous criminals who would shoot him in a moment, so he attacks us. The nice guys and gals of the homosexual community. The vatican is full of bullies, cynics and cowards.
The more I hear about the mainstreaming of anti-democratic values in Italy, the less I respect this corrupt, mafia-riddled, priest-ridden nation. Shit; they can’t hold down a government for more than three months, the Pope has done NOTHING to fight the mafia, which rules the south, because he is too much of a damned COWARD. Fix your own country, you withered failure, and stay out of mine.
