Citizens Protest Against Atlanta Police Raid
On Saturday afternoon, between 60 and 100 demonstrators stood outside of Atlanta City Hall in the pouring rain, holding signs that said, “Homosexuality is not a crime, homophobia is a crime.”
The angry citizens stood on the steps to protest the Sept. 10 undercover police raid at the gay Atlanta Eagle Club. Eight people were arrested that night, including the owner, and charged with providing adult entertainment without a permit.According to Towelroad, a total of 62 patrons were handcuffed, searched illegally, and forced onto the ground, where they stayed for close to two hours.
Towel Road also reported some of the complaints last week:
“One man said officers grabbed patrons who didn’t immediately lie down by the neck and forced them to the ground. The man said he was kicked in the ribs while lying down. ‘Then I heard laughing and giggling and saying this is more fun than raiding niggers with crack. They also told us to shut the fuck up unless we were spoken too [sic].’ The man said he heard one person told that if he spoke again he would be hit by a chair. He also reported that one officer ’said to everyone in general that all you all do is flash your asses and show your cocks.’”
Other witnesses reported that the police uttered anti-gay slurs to those they searched.

When Atlanta sold its soul to become just another big business cash register, a/k/a the Olympics, in poured swells of very, very politically and religiously conservative blacks, whites and browns – from all over the world. Hey, those folks wanted to make scads of money and buy cheap houses, too. Trouble is, up went the crime, homophobia, sexism and reverse racism meter. Recession and foreclosure fallout remains to be seen, as is whether the city will finally grow up or keep growing out into further bland, weird unevolved ‘burbs.
>sounds like a good test for obama’s people
Yeah, the last time he involved himself in a local police issue, it came back to bite him in the butt. He needs to stick to federal issues, IMO.
Thugs.
Right, like Obama is going to do anything.
In my opinion he contributes to this type of activity by refusing to recognize our rights as guaranteed by the constitution.
He is as culpable as the mayor and police chief.
Language matters and so does postering, at least in politics.
It is sad this community put so much behind a man that is ACTIVELY hurting us by his inaction.
Why not attack the gays? Even our liberal president thinks they are not worty of citizenship and seeks to limit their access to rights granted all citizens.
think of that type of enemy in the oval office. Clearly not the type we got rid of, but is this any better?
The only valid vote for gays is libertarian, unless you are wealthy and still think the republicans are going to repeal the death tax. I’d rather hold out hope for a 3rd party….
Sounds like you folks need to get a new police chief like we did a few years ago here in Portland, OR.

Are you one of those “tards” that thinks the Earth is actually only 5,000 years old.
What gives you the right to ram your understanding of Scripture down our necks?
What really makes religon attractive to the uneducated is that they can have all the answers.
Remember your Jesus did not get married to one woman and have kids. So how do you know he can be trusted ??

I see Atlanta’s soul hasn’t changed much from when I lived there 1980-1987: unwarranted police raids & rabid homophobia.
I’m surprised we haven’t heard more from the police department about this. Still no real response from them right?
Wayne I’m with you… and ready to fight!
It is sad that we still have to fight back against homophobic bullying by police and legal authority– but fight back we must and we will!
sounds like a good test for obama’s people will they responde to this clear hate crime by the cracker team? if so how & when. The phiscaL abuse meanacing statements & clear hatred of both gays & blacks with the nigger crack.Lets see if are 1/2 black president has the balls to force some real change or be like all the trash that came befor him???
So, should we be suprised by this, because im sure as hell not. The south needs an attitude make over real fast
