I have lived in Cincy for 34 years. Many of you seem suprised. If you lived here you would not be. Nothing suprises me anymore. Mr Smitherman has often asked the gay community here to engage in his “cause of the day”. We have rallied around him and voted for him. He will no longer get my support.

the naacp can choose the wrong person to represent their company but it wont amount to a hill of beans if they are not standing up for the rights of gay,lebian,bisexual,or transgender people of color. or is it that the naacp are worry about what people think if they represent colored gay and lesbian people, or bisexual and transgender people.they are the cowards who are too afraid to speak up for truth and righteousness!!!!

I’m sure this has more to do with him making a financial or fund raising commitment. That’s how these Board’s work. Or its a political tie. Otherwise, they would not have risked the criticism

I”m not sure I really care. He has his opinion. He’s a bigot. Oh well. Lots of those in every town.

“Because there may be some who don’t want their family dining next to a homosexual couple whose actions they find offensive,”

Forgive me for being confused but If you simply replaced the words “sexual-orientation” to read “race” and the word homosexual with “black”, what would the NAACP have to say then?

Just to be clear – the NAACP and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund are different organizations. That said sounds like there needs to be some on the ground education of the local leadership of the NAACP affiliate in Cincinnati.
