Church sign attacks gays

(Blacklick, Ohio) A church in Blacklick, Ohio, is making a statement using Katy Perry’s song “I Kissed a Girl.”
Havens Corners Church put up a sign with the lyrics “I kissed a girl and I liked it” and an additional line that reads “Then I went to hell.”The pastor says the sign is a warning to teens about homosexuality.
He admits the sign has confused some people who either don’t know the song or don’t understand the message.
The director of a gay rights group says she understands the message just fine: that the church isn’t very accepting.

A boy kissing a girl was exactly what I had thought it meant. It was not until i googled the lyric that I found the artist and the video.
The message to critical thinking men and women is abundantly clear: Cults are populated with mentality deranged psychotic people.

Why be coy? The pastor’s name is Dave Allison. This is his contact email:

Let him know, why don’ty you, how you feel about the perversion of his Savior’s Life and Words (neither of which make any statement whatsoever about same-sex love, devotion and tenderness) into a farrago of bigotry and hate. Why not tell him how his hateful idea of “welcome” is part of the mean-spiritedness that sees many ex-Christians walking away from their one-time faith and beliefs becasue if Allison and his ilk are exemplars – we don’t want what he’s offering. And we don’t want the foul, hate-mongering “faith” that he personifies.
To Tony Feltner:
Thanks so very much for expressing your views as a proud gay man as well as an ex-fundamentalist minister. I have been studying the relationship of fundamentalist Christianity to gays and women, and, well, everyone else. The church sign is actually quite typical: the urge to hate someone overrides reason and common sense. That is why (to us) many fundamentalists seem very stupid. The big problem is that these people lean towards Christofascism, which is very, very dangerous. I tell people that there are two kinds of fundamentalists: the Elmer Gantrys and the Elmer Fudds. I know people laugh at that, but always remember: Fudd IS THE ONE WITH THE GUN!
The Wesleyan Church is so homophophic that when I was a student there I was warned that if someone from the scholl found out I was gay, I would be kicked out. Others had in the past. Not gay tolerant at all as this pastor Dave Allison makes clearly evident.
This goes back to the Roman Empire; “too many Christians, too few lions.”
I am a lesbian. I believe in the lord. I also believe that he is the all mighty. He loves us all.In the bible there are NO small prints that says we can’t be gay. However I believe it does say that we shouldn’t be. I believe that he IS the almighty and that he loves us ALL because we are all his children. If he didn’t want gay people to be gay why did he allow it? He is the all mighty and his will is what was done. So in the begining of time, why did he allow it? we are all his children. again, he love us all!!!
I was reading some of the other replies and there are some things that really upset me. There are Lesbians by choice. I have no qualms in saying that I am a lesbian by choice, howevet there ARE lesbians that were born this way.
As far as the comment, of going to church that it will convert you.
#1 I am a lesbian by choice, #2 doesn’t anyone think that I like and enjoy been a lesbian? Why would I ever go to a church that will try to convert me?
News flash……. those lesbians by choice like myself, don’t want to convert, and those that are lesbians by birth, can NOT be changed.
In the bible it does say, “love thy neighbor.” It does not say love thy neighbor as long as they are heterosexual not if they are homosexual.
Let us be. Just because we are lesbians, it doesn’t mean we love the lord less.
No Lay, you are Lesbian, Heterosexual or some combination of the two.
There is no choice involved in sexuality. There is choice as to if you choose to act on your sexuality. Groups like Exodus International have beat gay folk over the head for years that they “should not act upon their sexuality,” and “there is a way out.”
Videos and songs that are noted on that church board are what leads to statements such as Lay’s. It is something that is more destructive and detrimental than any politician or political party. Performers have the ear of the public more than any politician ever could. It’s something we all should be aware of.
If these are truly ‘God’s people’, I don’t think I would like God.
Just wait until her release of Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’ comes out!!
yes exactly and no one wants to admit Christianity IS a cult-one of the longest surviving. I think the warning to teens should be more broad-because not just gayness(according to the church) leads to “hell”. this sign is clearly a hate message and if i lived near it i would attempt to take action to get it taken down!!
People come on and have a little heart. But it does feel good to get it off your chests. D
well, the little church got what it wanted…exposure. How Christian of them
