Like all trolls you are tiresome, stewing in your moral outrage over stuff that doesn't really make any sense. I'm done engaging your craziness.

366gay Said: "Unfortantley, persecussion against religion by the likes of Droopy is up 17% in California."

That would be "unfortunately" and "persecution", dear. Try not to butcher the English language while you butcher statistics to suit your pointless arguments.

It is tiresome to see you back here in another incarnation, but I won't waste my time arguing with you. You've been booted off here once already for spouting your hate-filled nonsense. Based on your recent performance, I'd be surprised if you last the week without crossing the line.

"The GLBT has attempted to align with gay Hollywood, NAMBLA, Atheists, and liberals."

OMG! OMG! OMG! This is the funniest line I've ever read. If you just add Muslims it would be perfect.

Well...a few thoughts. These people are so overtly zealous, so insistent on imposing their *Christian* will, that they make a great argument against their own interest. They're pushing closer and closer to establishment of their *Christian* values through secular law. It's becoming so clear that even a Republican- and Catholic-dominated Supreme Court will have a hard time not shooting it down.

There are schisms in this alliance, some of which the different groups don't dare admit. At some level, all are afraid that demographics will stop their quest for theocracy lite. Regardless of religious affiliation, younger Americans just aren't interested in old-school bigotry. Alliance on this platform doesn't change the fact that all these groups believe they have the True Faith, and the others are going to burn in Hell. As already seen with the GOP, there are the opportunists versus the True Believers, and the True Believers are so rigid that they will destroy any compromise.

The alliance behind this *call of conscience* is also pretty closely tied to the far right in the US. Anyone who wants to paint the Obama Administration as "left-wing" would do well to compare its policies to any center-right or rightist government in any other OECD country; we're not to the left of Harper's Tories in Canada, nor left of governments in Denmark, France, Germany or Italy. The US has never had a law like France has, where collective-bargaining agreements are also applied to non-union members (the closest we get are prevailing-wage laws on government contracts). The US right wing is so immersed in its fantasy of Manifest Destiny that it refuses to deal with a current-account deficit that is one of several factors bleeding our country dry. The Dems are still terrified of the GOP, and there are no Dems who seem capable of out-flanking the right wing by tying the need for change to patriotism and sovereignty. FDR did very well at this, Obama does not. The right wing, like this religious alliance, is a small minority of the population, but they fight above their weight largely because they believe in what they're fighting for. These are not people who will accept compromise; they have to be beaten back into their caves, their churches and their jingoism. Most middle-class Argentines didn't take Juan Peron as a threat to their country until it was too late. Same for most Germans when it came to the Nazis. This is a deeper cultural schism than we've seen since the 60's, and these people are not going to fade away on their own. These people include many who are Tim McVeighs in waiting. Whatever they might claim, they will shred the Constitution to suit their own interests, and they're so myopic that they'll give title to every inch of the US to China and Saudi Arabia before they give up their bigotry or their sense of entitlement.

annwsc1, your bias commentary on 501(c) changes would include the nonprofit GLBT, and prohibt them from engaging in political fund raising, campaigning, etc. Or, in other words, they would be come a "suck puppet."

Gabriel, yes you are confused, and times are changing.

We have recently had 31 popular votes in support of traditional marriages and 44 states now have constitutional amendments or iniatives defining marriage as ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN.

Now, we have churches joining with each other to sign declarations, to make it clear to the public, but principally their congregation, that God does not condone abortion nor same-sex marriage.

Praise God

"The declaration states that opening a legal door for gay marriage would do the same for “polyamorous partnerships, polygamous households, even adult brothers, sisters, or brothers and sisters living in incestuous relationships.”

Praise God, this what every sane person knows.

These groups are, as we speak, attempting to use false legal precedents set in some states by same-sex marriage.

You see, these groups don't see you as being more special than themselves, and neither does America.

There is a huge line between self hatred, hate and bigotry and Kelson your comments cross the line. If any straightar or Christian said what you said about bastards and a huge pot of boiling grease, they would be banned and all on this board would yell homophobe and bigot.

Well, you are a heterophobe and that is a mental disease disorder.

Ok, I am confused...Why does a declaration need to be written by the religious right to let us know that they have a problem with the same issues they will always have a problem with? It is a little redundant to me. Also, people need to realize that times are changing and that you can either go with the flow or drown. No one is obligated to like what other people do, what other people look like, how they act, etc. ALTHOUGH, all human beings need to be treated with respect and dignity because those two things are what we all require in our lives. No one on this planet was put here to please anyone else. So these religious people and organizations that can not honor the humanity in GLBT individuals need to REFLECT!!!

@Douglas in Canada: The Catholic church believes that when a catholic marries a non-christian, there is no sacramental marriage taking place. They look at it as basically blessing a relationship. A friend of mine converted to Catholicism a few years back. She was separated from her husband at the time and has since been divorced. The church does not recognize the validity of her marriage, but still wants her to get it annulled. It makes as much sense as anything else the church does.

They will also refuse to marry a couple who says that they don't want children. Even if they are in their 80's, they must still pledge to be "open" to having children. Conversely, they also refused to marry a friend of mine who got pregnant. The priest told her being pregnant was not a good enough reason to get married unless she was already planning to marry the father anyway. She wasn't. I actually almost understand the logic of that. No use following up one mistake with another one. But still, they will then decry the fact that she got pregnant out of wedlock.
