The alcohol premise is unsound.You assume unhealthy indulgence is the result of the young man’s death. How many people have died from hiv/aids who were unaware he or she had contracted it because they too assumed that the unprtected sex they were having was prtected. A lack of trust has caused millions to die from this disease not immorality sexual and definitely not being homosexual. This woman of God is not a hypocrite.She has grown in the love of God and has “come forth” with the risk of being ridiculed.Her son died of hiv because he trusted someone somewhere along the way.A reminder to us all not to feed Holy food to the dogs nor cast our pearls before swine. Question,get tested, pray and then consummate. And where there is doubt, fear, or concern of any kind :wear a condom always.Truly it is better to be safe than sorry.Our prayers to yet another mother who has lost her child to hiv/aids.

If he truly represents North Carolina, then I will definitely never visit there. Bill James’ symbol of christianity is probably most likely found burning, with a bunch of hooded cretins carrying torches around it. It is interesting that when we demand our rights, we are accused of having an ‘agenda’. Meanwhile, heterosexuals propagandize and enforce their ‘agenda’ from birth to death. Just sayin’.

Thank you, Drewski, for posting that link to the blogger who’s a columnist for the Charlotte Observer. I’ll be traveling to the Charlotte area on Christmas day to visit family, and I know that there are some decent, “relatively modern” people living in that area of North Carolina. (And don’t forget Asheville!) Reading that blog entry, you’re reminded of it.

Unfortunately, the far right has not yet given up on the “being gay causes AIDS” line of “reasoning.” (Back in the day, we used to respond by saying that, following that logic, lesbians are god’s chosen people. )

If it is an illness, Can I call in “GAY” to work?
Commissioner James comments are incredibly rude and insensative and uncalled for. I believe it is merely the tip of the iceberg though, when it comes to just how phobic and ignorant the dialog gets when discussing anything that has a “gay”, “same-sex”, or “civil-partner” moniker. The lack of civility and the abusive personal attack stratagy, seems to be the tactic of choice when the conservative senses a “loss” on a vote…Fortunately the commision voted 6-3 in favor of providing domestic partner benefits for county workers in same-sex relationships. Employees will be eligible to enroll for benefits by fall 2011. I reference the ffollowing as the source of this information.
