As one of those Massachusetts citizens will will be disappeared by this policy, it is hard to express how angry this makes me.

In the 1990 census, I was surveyed. If my memory is correct, answering was compulsory by law, kinda like filing out tax forms.

They are probably not as bad as the IRS if you defy them, but I'm gonna find out: if I get surveyed again, I will REFUSE to fill out the census form! If I'm going to be an un-person, let's do it RIGHT!

And if they come to arrest me, or even give me a fine, I'll make sure the media is present-- Hell, I'll stream it live on the Internet!

This proves to be another chink in the armor for DOMA. Failure to recognize same-sex couples, particularly those who have committed to each other in marriage, does a real disservice to the country. The census is supposed to provide detailed demographic data on the construction of the population of our great country, data upon which government agencies, marketing companies and others formulate their strategies. The census should be a snapshot of the makeup of society - instead it is a snapshot of the society certain people want us to see. How Orwellian.
