I always knew I liked Bruce. He's one of my favorite singers, not only for his music but also for statements he makes (like this one).

The number voting for equality may fall short. That is because you've likely got some Democrats liking their stay in office far too much and lacking the political guts and fortitude to say screw political career and political advantage. It's safe up to now to not vote for marriage equality and to keep mum on the subject in public.

Time for NJ citizens to start asking their politicians the tough questions right there in public about their views on civil rights for all gay and straight and their views on marriage equality and other forms of equality for all. Let those of us who live in NJ hear whether the politician waffles and gives round about answers that answer not much, or who refuses marriage equality outright or isn't sure if voting for that is yet resonates with enough people. Or is this the politician (who doesn't give a hoot about the views of Sparkle Cow and her cohort Brian Brown and others of their bound -to -inequality mindset) who doesn't care all that much if people vote her or him out of office for try to do the right thing for not always popular minorities like ours. In addition to juggling the pressing concerns of economy and a state's current unemployment rate, transportation and education woes or whatever else it is that's on their plate in that state.

The politician who is willing to go out on a limb for equality, who doesn't waver or vascillate back and forth, who doesn't "get weak knees or cold feet" about speaking up for and meeting with GLBTs and who willing to tolerate a possible angry backlash from a few or from many gay-haters complete with nasty phone calls and hate mail, is the one who will get my vote if such a politician is from my state.

The voting record and the public statements of politician on our issues are on record and can be readily found out. So they can't hide and we can find out about them.
