(San Francisco, California) Apple Inc. has joined the short list of publicly traded companies to oppose a ballot measure that would ban same-sex marriage in California.
The Cupertino-based computer and iPod maker said on its Web site Friday it made a $100,000 pledge to defeat Proposition 8.The statement says Apple views the initiative as a civil rights issue. An Apple spokesman declined to elaborate.
Jeans maker Levi Strauss & Co. gave $25,000 last month to fight the initiative.
Same-sex marriage became legal in California in June.

Another reason to get an iPhone.

Its great to have some level minded and caring people in the world
Thanks, Apple, but you could have come up with a Million. I’m just a retired guy who did well at intel, saved, invested, etc. And I gave about $ 30,000 to support equality under the law for our gay citizens.
And hasten the day when these right wing christian / catholic churches are recognized by all for the monstrosities they are. Where their true God is named “Money, Power, and Control”.
While Jesus weeps for what they have done in His Name.
btw , Hi Kaitlin. I did throw in another $2500 for you after your call.
