I know it's never a good idea to paint an entire area with the same brush , but as far back as I can remember, Fresno and Orange County ( minus Laguna Beach), were THE centres of extreme right wing religious and political ideology in California.

All it would take is someone with their cell phones camera recording his speech to help this nut get the Darwin Award for teaching. Personally I think he's well on his way from thinning himself from teaching herd. Also this guy does not speak for all Christians or believers. There are many Christian that are not threatened by the idea of evolution or that global warming is caused by human beings. A lot of level headed Christians know that there are many more people dying of cancer from smoking then all the abortions conducted here in America every day. Yes, I know there are spiritually inspired militantly ignorant Chicken Little’s out there, who have no clue what their faith really about. But I also know there are religious people out there that are appalled when they see JESUS CAMP, or hear the militantly ignorance coming out of this guys mouth. But that also means that the GLBTQ community needs to educate themselves so we really know what their faith is really about, so you can call them on their ignorance when they start spouting it off. Also it helps to have a lot of cocktail sauce for your shrimp, when they start telling you are going to hell. Offer them some shrimp, and then quote the bible virus that say it’s an abomination to eat shell fish, and then smile really big, and walk off.

Just another rectal asshole.

What he should be saying is that Jesus never married.

Almost certain proof for his time that Jesus was gay. think about it.

Those assholes do the opposite of what Jesus said about loving thy neighbor anyway. Sounds gay to me.

“He (Lopez) sent a letter back to me denying he had ever said any of those things,”

If his God says it's OK for him to lie...how much of his instruction in class and his view on religion should one take as truth. Isn't there a religious figure in Christianity sometimes referred to as "The Prince of Lies"?
I guess he must be a follower.

Johnathan, I really don't see any problem with the criticisms of religion. It's really the underlying theme of this article even though they don't come out and criticize the religion directly.

Namely, religionists often teach baseless divine creationism and ignore empirical evidence supporting the theory of evolution; they consider LGBT people to be mentally impaired and, thus, worthy of persecution (which is doubly sad since, if they really believe that, they have no respect for the "disabled"); and they perpetuate the idea that a fetus is a life distinct from that of its mother even when it wouldn't be possible for said fetus to survive independently of that mother no matter how well you cared for it.

The icing on the cake is using an unscientific, centuries-old text (that was written well before the science of genetics even existed) to determine the /genetic/ makeup of Jesus. Even if you considered this a valid exercise, surely there would be better ways of making such a determination than using (a second-hand translation of) the Christian Bible as your research source.

There's a reason why this stuff shouldn't be taught in a classroom; it's because it's total nonsense. If that's "religion-bashing", so be it.

Can we please cut down on the religion-bashing? It does no good, and paints you as just as bad as any other bigot out there.

Well, Morgan, it is at least reassuring to hear you don't do with your delusional beliefs what most people do. Still can't figure out if you believe what you say why you still buy the fairy tale. As you say, your private issue, I hope it gives you what you need from it.

However, to imply that because someone uses a valid critique of christocultists that we should expect the same critique of atheism, and lacking that you are somehow better, shows the lack of reason you have that is required to accept delusional beliefs.

If atheism earned the same sarcastic moniker appropriately applied to your cult, than your comment would make sense. Since it is rather a situation in which humans use their brains to conclude the obvious, not only would you being sarcastic towards it not make any sense, your not being sarcastic towards it doesn't elevate you whatsoever.

"murders are bad people" is not properly countered with "yeah, but as a murderer, I find peaceful people bad".

You are comparing two things that are quite different, rationality with delusion.

But, like I said, if it gives you what you seek, good for you. Too bad you don't see why people wish to brainwash you, even if they are not succesful.
