ABC gets complaints about Lambert’s performance

(New York) ABC says more than 1,500 people have called to complain about Adam Lambert’s sexually charged performance at the American Music Awards.

The network characterized the response as “moderate.” Before his performance, Lambert said that he wanted to break down a double standard that existed where female performers are often sexually provocative while men don’t do it that often.

There were also hostile comments online about the “American Idol” glam rocker who sang his new song “For Your Entertainment” on Sunday’s show with an elaborate, S&M-themed production. Lambert fondled a dancer, led another around on a leash, had a dancer briefly stick his head in Lambert’s crotch and kissed a man.

    • BFD! Who Cares? Was there a “wardrobe malfunction”? Did we see body parts? No blood ..no foul! …move on!

    • Adam’s brilliant! darn conservative double standards… when will they learn? a “wardrobe malfunction” should definitely be considered… lol.

    • I watched all of the AMA’s and what gets me is no one complained when Janet Jackson grabbed a mans “junk” from behind, and bent him over? But i guess its okay for her to do it, i mean she is Janet Jackson right?…. not a good reason people…

    • I’m not sure if I’m more upset that they blacked out the “kiss” or that they didn’t black out even more of his performance. He was terrible. Off key. Actually there were a lot of performers who were really, really off key. All around an awful show.

      My two cents.

    • I dont see how it’s that much of a problem. I figure if I were him I’d be doing the same thing.

Although…I do agree that he was singing off key, I think he was focusing too much on the show rather then the singing.

    • Well, the only two singers that sounded good last night were Kelly Clarkson and Shakira. The rest were awful, it was like a bad karaoke night. However, I see nothing wrong with Adam’s performance. If that was a female performing do you think anyone would care? What about when britney and madonna kissed? People need to get over it.

    • RAH!! RAH!! for Adam. I believe all homophobes are just very jealous.

    • It should be noted that at least some of these complaints are facetious, placed by readers of Vote For The Worst.

Of course, that performance was absolutely horrible — out of tune, falling, screeching, and a creepy kiss. Is Adam even gay? I don’t buy it. We’re so much more fabulous than this.

    • That is why TVs come with a power button and a channel-changing device called a remote. Don’t like Adam? You can always banish him with one push of a button.
Clean-shaven white guys(as I have seen from photos of Adam) without even a shadow or a moustache to dress up the paleness of their white faces turn me off.

    • Adam went straight to the 21st century and boldly brought out of the closet an erotic gay/bi fantasy performance, so what? He brought out the reality that it’s ok to be a gay male performer that can be erotic, sensual and openly gay on stage, being just as erotic and sensual as heterosexual performers constantly do on stage. Bravo Adam!

    • Soooooo, the hets don’t LIKE that fact that gays and lesbians actually KISS? Yet WE get to be subjected to their BLATANT sexuality every freaking day on every media available? And THEY have the balls to complain that a gay man KISSED another man on national television? FUCK ‘EM! I don’t give a DAMN if they like it or not!

    • I agree with Craig Church. I’ve been watching stanky hoes shaking it in the music videos for the longest, let the guys get dirty with it too. Adam is a cute white guy, I admire his boldness.

    • Time for gay men and lesbians to kiss in front of every TV studio in the land, on every street, anywhere and everytime.

I’ve seen some pretty over the top and tasteless public displays from madly in love besotted heteros, so what’s so bad about a quick public peck on the cheek betweem two well-mannered guys or two well-mannered two women or same-sex hand-holding since straights often do that so well walking 2 abreast hand in hand and blocking even narrow sidewalks?
