I find it fascinating that it is the US Army putting $$ into vaccine development, rather than Big Pharma, good point Sarallec. It took ACT UP years to even get a viral treatment looked for.
Also fascinating that the US Army, which has ‘no Gay’ soldiers right? … studying it.

Also true Masamune, in th millions of cases sexually transmitted to date (vs blood transmitted) there is simply no difference in the biology of transmission if it is oral or anal vs vaginal.

I do know americia wont be the ones to harness the vacine or a cure not when white hetro hate rules in dc.
Just like the 411 that a stem cell transplant eliminates the virus.

How many times have we read virtually the same article over and over and over in the last 20 years?
Great new vaccine!
And, always, at the bottom of the article the same disclaimer:
But we’re not there yet!
Puh-leeeez….
Just like alternate energy sources will NEVER be “feasable” until the multi-millionaires get the last bloody dollar out of fossil fuels, the pharmas will NEVER allow an AIDS vaccine–there’s just too much profit in the life-long maintenance drugs they’re selling now.

This is a great start but that “and whether the vaccine helps prevent infection in gay men and injection drug users, since it was tested mostly in heterosexuals in the Thai trial.” part is so backwards it’s mind boggling for scientists to still consider gay biology so radically different as to have different tests. I can understand a bit of distinction between the genders but really that was unnecessary.
