Great. If one is openly transsexual (or trangender), then USE THE WORD "transsexual" (or "transgender").

My point is the gay media have picked up on this idiotic overuse of the abbreviation "LGBT". Say the words "gay", "lesbian", "transsexual/transgender".

I stand by my comment regarding the political expedience about fusing the gay movement and trans movement. It's not transphobic. It's an accurate description of what happened in the 1990's when national non-profits thought they could get 2 for the price of 1, legislatively, especially with ENDA. (And we all know what was a colossal failure that was in 2007-2008).

JJ: Uh, what?

I don't know if any of the people listed are bisexual because several are not major public figures, but being a politician is not required to be a part of the DNC.

Only two of the six people listed have ever run for public office.

And your comment regarding T* activists comes off as transphobic, especially since at least one of the people listed is T.

Just what on earth is an "openly LGBT" democrat?

If you mean "openly gay" or "openly lesbian", then say that.

By the way, how many "openly bisexual" politicians has the United States had?

You would do your readers a great service if you stopped using that lame, politically expedient term "LGBT".

Gay men and lesbians have worked decades for visibility and respect, only to see it swept under the rug with that stale, overused "LGBT" term that has long passed its expiration date.

Good grief. Re-read what you wrote. Do you honestly think the headline "6 LGBTs Join the DNC" does anything except to placate TS/TG activists who want everyone to be joined at the hip at every mention in the name of political convenience?

Good choices. However, now they need to make every effort to make a difference in getting things done.
