3 charged in violent attack at gay bar

(Galveston, Texas) Galveston gays are crediting police with swift action in arresting three people in connection with a violent weekend attack on two gay men in a gay bar.
One of the victims had his head split open when he was hit by a 4-pound rock. Police said both victims were inside the bar when the door to Roberts Lafitte bar suddenly opened and door stops and stones were thrown at patrons.“I thought I had just been slapped, and the second rock hit me here,” Marc Bosaw, 57, toldĀ The Galveston County Daily News, pointing to his head were he now has 12 surgical staples.
“Everything went white in my mind, and I thought that was it. I even said ‘goodbye,”‘ Bosaw said. James Nickelson, 39, another bar patron, was hit in the jaw but did not require treatment.
As Bosaw’s partner of 13 years, Victor Clements, 47, pressed on Bosaw’s wound to stop the bleeding until an ambulance arrived, bar patrons chased the suspects until police took up the chase.
The accused were apprehended a short while later and returned to the bar where they were identified by patrons.
Lawrence Henry Lewis III, 20, Lawrneil Henry Lewis, 18, and Alejandro Sam Gray, 17, are each charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with the enhancement of a hate crime. Bond has been set at $120,000 each.
Police are expected to produce the rock that hit Bosaw in court. The rock still has part of Bosaw’s scalp and hair still attached.

Hahahaha it’s so funny that they thought they could actually get away with this! Straight people are so stupid.
It must’ve been gay panic? right?
Or all of the boys in question are self hating homos. At any rate, why is this never front page news or headlining on CNN? Much like the man cutting his wife’s head off, there seems to be no interested in real news. Just A Rod taking steroids.
If someone was throwing stones into a bar frequented by African Americans this would be on CNN every hour.
This is why educating our youth on LGBT is crucial. Without even having to read the ages of the idiots you know they are going to be in their late teens, early 20s. But since this country is so heavily steeped in religion it’s a big uphill battle.
Timmy the Twink, “Straight people are so stupid”. Are you calling are our straight allies like Brad Pitt who dropped $100,000.00 out of his wallet to fight Prop H8 “stupid?” You know what that sounds like to some of us gay folks who are reading that? It sounds like the gay version of “Ewww, that’s so gay!” or “You’re so gay!”
So, Brad Pitt gives us this money, are we going to say to him, “straight people are so stupid” or “you’re so straight!” or “that’s so straight!”.
Timmy, that is patently disrespectful to those straight allies who go out of their way to support us with volunteer work and sometimes even their own funds when they don’t have to.
And sometimes to our own shame, straight people have shown up to support our efforts just to have us be indifferent and not show up to work for our own rights issues. Which is not very bright of us gays.
What is even more shameful, is this is the first bar to re-open after Huricane Ike destroyed Galveston, and provided residents of the town with food and water while the Feds sat on their thumbs. Shame on the straight community of Galveston for fostering this kind of hatred!
But we need to pass the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes law:
See link.. to send letter if you support the law.

Why is anyone surprised? The “Holy Dribble” says to STONE men who lie with men. And this IS Tex-ASS, the buckle of the Bible Belt, where “he NEEDED killin’” is still a working defense in a murder case, PARTICULARLY if the victim is GLBTQAI.
No, straight people aren’t stupid, but I AM a little pissed at a certain “silver fox” at CNN who never follows up on stories like this when I send them to him.
Why he’s concerned about coming out is beyond me … he’s heir to GAZILLIONS of old money dollars … he doesn’t NEED to work … I doubt that CNN is going to fire somebody that high-profile for “having the gay” as Rachel puts it.
Maybe he just doesn’t want to get stoned.
Kudos to the Galveston police for catching these thugs — and for the Galveston DA charging them appropriately (with none of the “we’re investigating to see if this really is a hate crime” stuff that we’ve seen in NY, DC and SF.)
Timmy the Twink: You asked for this: you are part of the problem, you twirling little bigot.
Menstruator: Gay Panic! That’s it! Loved your point about throwing rocks into black bars: that’d definitely get CNN in an uproar.
Bud BC: Wow. I’ve never heard someone take on that silver haired CNN DADT gay icon before. I’ve always hoped to read a comment like yours. He’s an interesting case: he’s got ABSOLUTELY nothing to lose by coming out – he’ll always have too much money, and would probably get promoted at CNN so that they can prove how politically correct they are. So few people are in that position. Generally, I respect people’s desire for privacy as long as they don’t lie or help fuel America’s incredible capacity for hatred (he hasn’t been forthcoming, but I don’t think he’s ever lied). But he’s like Liberace: so achingly and obviously gay, so well-liked by the public, and he knows that his coming out would help plenty of people. I’m surprised he’s reluctant to take on gay issues. What in god’s name could he possibly have to fear? Pity the poor celebrities…
I am sorry there are those who choose to use hateful attacks against LGBT people as an excuse to return hate. The violent attack against patrons of a Texas Gay bar points out our need to focus on the problem– bigotry and fear-raising. There is no doubt there are heterosexuals and Christians who are hateful toward us. These are the people who engage in rhetoric they know will result in fear of LGBT people. I agree they need to be stopped. However, let us not forget we have many Straight and Christian allies who not only support LGBT safety and equality rights, but who join us on the streets, in the courts and before legislative committees to defend our right to equality. These allies also support efforts in schools to teach understanding and acceptance of sexual diversity.
Our fight for equality rights– and ultimately our fight for full liberation so we can live as LGBT folk without fear depends on us encouraging more people to be our allies.
And by the way, do not forget that using hateful attacks against us as an excuse for hateful attacks against Christians is also an attack against many LGBT people, who are also Christians. We must advocate respect as the only way to end homophobic violence.
Given that this was Texas I’m surprised they weren’t shot dead in the doorway.
In this case I would have said “Yay, frontier justice!”
F**KING breeders suck SH*T! How much better off this world will be WITHOUT them!! No more overpopulation means no more war, poverty, famine and diseases like AIDS which came from heteros to begin with! As for the “courageous” Galveston police force who “chased” down these little lone star neanderthals, correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the article said something to the effect of the bar PATRONS giving them chase first! Right on GAY community of Galveston! Oh yah, Morgan “dear” please stop kissing the ol’ hetero ass ‘kay hon’. I realize your a “recovering” log cabin boy there but c’mon bud, the breeders don’t respect us THAT much! ROFL!
It seems almost daily we see the results of the constant preaching of bigotry by certain churches and politicians. These mentally sick little thugs were just doing what has been pounded into their heads throughout their short lives—hate and attack minorities. It would be interesting to explore their home life and see the type of family from which they absorbed this attitude. Too bad the parents can’t also be charged.
The prosecutor’s office and the police could’ve easily done little or nothing, then pointed to the hurricane damage and used it as an excuse. Sometimes doing the right thing might seem to come easy, but it’s still ballsy. I doubt people who experienced the support of the bar owner are going to be inclined to let some thugs go unpunished.
I was glad to see that the Houston area news stations carried this story in every 30 minute segment this morning. I know it wont hit national news, but your hardly ever see much new stories about what happens in Galveston, so it is a good thing that our news stations saw this as important news.
